The end of Kalgoorlie?

West Australian Racing
The KBRC have issued a statement saying that next season is in doubt due to water supply issues to irrigate the track. With the club already hanging by a thread. Reliant on one trainer to make up its fields, and the possibility of Pete permanently relocating to Perth if next season doesn't happen. I fear sadly we may have already seen the last race at the historic track

Think someone is spreading a story, and Kalgoorlie relies on race round,I will take it as gossip.

Gossip....yep, that's what we thought over in Harness Racing land......Geraldton, Wyalkatchem, Trayning, Cunderdin, York, Merredin, Golden Mile, Harvey, Katanning, Fremantle......and I'd be pretty nervous if I was involved with Williams, Bridgetown, Collie, Busselton, Kellerberrin, Narrogin and/or Wagin. But, yep, probably just gossip.

Don't deal in gossip only the facts and JayJay's correct that's what we thought in harness. How much longer can we as a racing industry  put up with the poor management of a industry. The facts are in black and white.Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting the  same results

Biggest problem Kalgoorlie Boulder council promised Lynas Rare Earth all the recycled water before they agreed to build there plant, using the full quota required has robbed sporting ovals, golf course ,race course, of there share with KBRC having a debt 150k for the purchase of pipeline water
Now the cou ncil have allocated 1 6mil. dollars to increase the size of golf course dam
Coolgardie race club has bailed kbrc on another problem to the tune 120k.

This outside race day problems with season running too long plus the bottleneck of meetings at start of season, then the round being busted open then meetings at fortnight intervals pushing the NorthEastern clubs. into hotter months
.Kalgoorlie  last meeting 39 runners  16,  from fernie stable.

RWWA. Got the tyranny  of distance  closure  trick doing even time on the desk , once Bunbury  track settles and can race through winter.

I fondly recall a great night financially at York trots mind you two drivers gave me invaluable information on horses at good each way at odds. I only went to York twice but I was certainly up close and personal. It was staged around the footy oval wasn't it? Certainly seemed to be. I had wanted to go to Cunderdin trots but missed out. Was there trot meetings at Trayning? I vaguely recall.

Sounds like a lot of sporting grounds may be affected by the lure of mining money.

York trots were indeed around the footy oval. Close and personal alright, the bookies ring was at the end of the main straight, all 90 metres of it, and it was like a coliseum as they came barrelling into the corner. Cunderdin was also around the footy oval but was much bigger, 800m, whereas York was a saucer, less than 600 mtetres.

Trayning was a great venue, good track albeit a large gum tree shadow over the back straight which meant shadow rolls were in high demand. On April 1st 1967, six weeks after Binshaw won the Interdominion in 1967 for Phil Coulson, he drove a double at Trayning with Legal Chief and ran 3rd in the Cup with Alva's Son. Another Interdominion Driver Laurie Robinson ran multiple places on the day, the place, complete with a grandstand was packed, everyone who was anyone was there, also around the footy oval.  Was a great day out provided you avoided the RTA Council Traffic Inspector hiding behind the wheat bin in Yelbini in the 35 mph zone.
