Another great effort by Grant and Alana, Western Empire taking out the Northerly then they beat diamond scene in the Perth cup. Bet Bob was wishing he had given them a little bit more credit for their efforts along the way now.!

They are by far the best trainers. Some wont want to admit it, but its clear as day. They are the best by the length of the straight

PC with his 3rd Perth Cup and a CV including multiple Group 1s goes alright too.
Wouldn't mind knowing the last winner of the Perth Cup at those kinda odds....

The Cup Curse was a thing about 10-15 years ago. Very few winners of the Cup would return to the winners circle. I wonder if that will apply to Hemlock?

“Scoring at $81 in yesterdays Perth Cup, HEMLOCK STONE re-wrote the record books, becoming the longest-priced winner in the Cup’s 139 year history.
At 66/1, SYDNEY JAMES (ridden by 19yo Glen Davies) had held that record since 1947, the 8yo scoring in his fourth Perth Cup attempt.”

Re Asian Beau , was Malcolm Brown the footballer involved in that horse in some capacity , ownership or did he broker the sale

What im going on ( no lazy cheating google with me ) is i think Trevor Jenkins when he was hosting the Racing Radio early morning show with J K Watts , this would be 25 years ago , and TJ might have mentioned something along those lines  about it , and because ive got an A Class memory it has stuck with me

Those 2 gave me the $50 voucher , one morning , it was either a betting voucher or clothing voucher cant remember  , what i do remember is i owned a cheap  as chips house at the time ( and there was certainly no money in Perth real estate then , and i sold it , and the 2 lousy baarstards who bought it , i had to throw in that $50 voucher to get the sale over the line , no bull shiit .

    Cruising the
    Coral Sea I presume

I wasn't a fan of Davies and yes there was a lot said at the time about the ride on Asian Beau. He rode a fair bit for Alan Hawke and I recall a rare Davies double at Belmont on Parishioner and something else.
