Not on your own there Mannie with that assessment. He was very shy believe it or not. Perhaps for the most couldn't be bothered with most people.

I don't know if this is gospel but a taxi driver in England told me Lester told him about how racing was crooked etc. The thing I found most unbelievable was Lester catching a taxi but then again he was known for being very tight on the money front. He was once charged for breaking in to a 5 pound note :))

Another story on the attitude front was a friend (not into horse racing) high up in hospitality once told me the rudest guest he had ever dealt with in a multitude of years was Bart Cummings
