Should be a very competitive Group 3 this Saturday.

Often won by the very best gallopers which includes Miss Andretti, Willoughby, M'ladys Jewel, Asian Beau, Heron Bridge, Century Blazer and Belindas Star

Before we see the nominations on Tuesday does anyone want to throw out a few chances.

I will make an early prediction with Grasspatch Girl but...

Could Far Horizons back up and contest this race?? same for Calico Blue or Innovation???

Could we have a first up winner like Hartleys Dream or Idyllic Prince??

Do we have any 3yo's capable of repeating the effort of Real Mak last year? will any trainer be game effort to enter the race with a 3yo?

Can Patrick Carbery repeat Jessica Valas's effort from Saturday of winning the same feature 2 years in a row?? what horse will he ride??

Is it too early for El Presidente to have a crack at a race like this?
  • TheDivaTheDiva    13,246 posts
Its probably better suited in weaker company and I thought looking for 1400m now - but Ive been wrong plenty of times before.

Perhaps Glory Hunter could have a crack too - certainly earned it with its effort last start. Both horses are 82 rated so if they got it would definetly be on the mnimum.

    My prediction is El Presidante.

Not sure he would run but Danes Mystery would be a chance given his first up win over 1000m.

Well the noms are in and El Presidente fans must be disapointed as Bruce Watkins has taken the easier option of a restricted 1400m race - personally I think a wise move.

Of the following noms there would be doubt about Charlie Beau, Vain Crusader, Royale Harvest, Valparaiso and Lacerate who are nominated for weaker. I also think barriers are against Glory Hunter and Arctic Park who raced last week and may not back up.

Overall probably wont be the strongest field we have seen for this race but I still look forward to the return of some nice types in Idyllic Prince, Hartleys Dream and No Questions.

At the moment I will stick with my original tip of Grasspatch Girl.

Glory Hunter has copped the visitors draw again (gate 17).
Is my roughie for the Railway though, if he gets enough points up to get a start.........

Hartley's dream extremely hard to beat.

This is not a knock, or having a go at all.....I am just intrigued.
Punters make this comment every time he lines up in a big race, he never does win it, more often than not doesn't come close......yet next time around, same comments.

Great horse, would take him in a flash......but this reoccuring comment ? :?

Hartleys Dream is rumoured to be flying - obviously GOM has got some strong mail from somewhere or watched the Larkhill trial.

His first up record is quite good.

The mail of GOM is correct. K. Scallan to ride Charlie

Good to see Kirryn's boss giving her the chance to strut her stuff.
    Good luck to all connections

grasspatchgirl to win this one better suited with even weights

I think Cool Front will put in a big run. He did alot wrong last start and still put a big finish in. Might just be starting to get it right, worth having a look at if large odds.

Is she on one for you Darrah?
  • DarrahDarrah    2,933 posts
No Cochie, just good to have good numbers of riders available with the field sizes.

    :)

Yep, good size fields there too. Should be a good meet.

Always wary about On Target first up.

    Gee he goes well fresh.

Hopefully there will be speed to suit.

Anyway where are all the Vain Crusader fans?
  • I'm with Tivers here, no horse has flown more but rarely flies.
Vain Crusader is becoming an enigma, I had him as one of the best horses in WA, just finding it hard to get back to his 3 y/o form, he must have problems surely, sure Hope Tricky Trev gets him 100%
  • TheDivaTheDiva    13,246 posts
The final field should be out sometime this morning but I do know that Valparaiso and Vain Crusader are tackling the easier races and not the Prince of Wales.

Vain Crusader is fine.He has no problems.

The extra distance in the next couple of races of his current program will suit him much better.

First run back he was taken wide and had to do way too much work and second run back he made up good ground to run 4th (fastest 600 of the race) on a day when front runners were dominant.

I am certain his best is yet to come
