SANDOWN WED. RACE 6 NO. 1 ROCKY TIMES
(J L Clifford) 4g By Ladoni - Fracas (11:5-1-0): Reported lame after race when slowly away and struck interference near post in 1/2 len 4th (57.0) Relentless Pursuit 1175m Devonport Open Hcp dead trk Jan 30, then sent for a let-up after made good late ground in Listed company for 3/4 len 2nd (59.0) Conquering 1400m Hobart Thomas Lyons dead trk Feb 13.
ROCKY TIMES showed enough to suggest he could be a star in the making when he won an open handicap over 1400 metres at Tattersall's Park in Hobart on Sunday.

The Jason Clifford-trained gelding was facing his toughest task by a long way but the gelded son of Ladoni was able to come from well back on the home turn to score narrowly from his stablemate Milochello with Old Hands third.

Rocky Times was expected to play second fiddle to Milochello that was sent out the odds-on favourite and deservedly so, given he had been racing successfully against top opposition.

But Rocky Times (Kelvin Sanderson) had the answer when Milochello loomed to win close to home.

Sanderson said it was a superb effort by his charge and believes the four-year-old has a future.

"I'm sure there is improvement in this horse and he may be real good next preparation," Sanderson said.
