the attitude that no one cares, breeds mediocrity and that will creep in to other facets of the offering.
PR need to try harder in all areas...this is a good start.
Small steps with things that are easily controlled and with a minimal expense and effort, they will slowly get a bit of traction....Just hope they don't stop and look at the mountain in front of them!! :O
Can I, can I please...?
:)
dungy, although I agree it's not about the food I don't like money falling out of my wallet, nor do I like my horse staying the gates as they jump, and paying $10 for crap is exactly the same waste of money. If you're on the gas and you're there for the card you have to eat so it may as well be above par.

They staffed for a crowd of 1700, so a couple hundred extra patrons just pushed them ever so slightly, but not a big deal as nobody would complain with such a spread of people over the complex.
The business over the race day clerks is going to get messy before it gets any better. It can't be a lot of money they are asking for, when all other clubs have reached satisfactory arrangements.
Now................ The race day clerks????? what is going on there that is so messy?
I do love the sound of steak in a bottle though.. wait is that the same as a protein shake :D
Will they let you take shots of the bookies ring?
Damien, the question has been answered. You DONT HAVE TO respond...but i'm sure you will... :-j :-)) :D
So sorry Damien, obviously the powers that be don't want any publicity about Perth racing.
And sorry Rio.

So if it was required I probably could do some work in there but the conditions would have to be approved by PR.
The question I would ask, is that it would need to be be done in a hurry as I understand the ring is disappearing and or shrinking ???

Not only did I find it informative, but I used to follow the horses in their next start, that he said had been backed but had not performed up to expectations.
Mind you, Ian Lentons "show" is pretty good.
May bring back an abbreviated format in the coming months.

When I was in Perth last year, there were 12 bookies working on locals, although Peter Bartlett was on holidays, and two were working on the interstate races.
As small as the ring is, its still better than Adelaide.
They only have 5 bookies working at Morphetville every Saturday, and for the last couple of Saturdays and this week, they invited two Victorian bookies to work, to try and bolster the ring, for their big meetings, but the two they invited are not what you would call big bettors.
The other thing I noticed, and I have already referred to it on this forum, is that there was a lot more cash in the Perth ring than in the Melbourne betting ring where I come from.
I also believe that there are a number of commission agents operating in Perth who represent Eastern States punters, at least they were there when I was there last year, and they are there because they can get on with your bookies and find it hard to get on in their local rings and with the Corporates.
I'm also reliably informed, and I have seen it myself that plunges are having a habit of coming off on the locals in Perth and that bookies have had a pretty rough time of it. So yes, the ring could shrink as a result of this. I have heard about a couple of bookies in Perth who have been hit hard, and let's face it, no one is immune from huge losses.
It's most unfortunate that times have changed to the point where the on-course bookmaker is finding difficult to make a living out of his/her trade.
Here in Melbourne, we have 4 bookies working at Melton Trots, and one bookie working on a couple of other trot meetings around the state. There are only two bookies working at the Meadows greyhounds and Sandown greyhounds normally only has one. In Sydney there are 4 working at Wentworth Park on Saturday night and only one on Friday night. That is the way it is and nothing will change it.
You don't have a bookie at Cannington, and Steve Mulhall only works occasionally at Gloucester Park.
I'm not a young bloke any more, and I'm sure that the bookies will still be working at the race track for as long as I'm on this earth. As for the trots and dogs, I'm not so sure.
I would love to see medical science progress beyond anything that we can imagine at this point in time, so that I can be around in 50 Years time to see if there is still a bookie at our race tracks.
I suppose you have read my previous post.
I hope you are hanging in there and not copping it up the clacker with some of the plonks that have been landed in Perth in recent months.
I really wonder if the Stewards are oblivious to what has been happening.
To clarify, what I mean by this, is that a horse will drift from 2.50 to 4.00 and run accordingly, and it is a horse that was expected to go close, and another horse in the same race, will be 8.00 into 4.40 and sh!t in. From what I can tell, there is no enquiry about the bad run or the plonk. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.
Anyway, best of luck on Saturday, and in the future. :)>-
The commission agents placing bets in Perth I am told, have an amazing strike rate, and it is hurting the locals. Of course they could just decline to take the bet, I assume that is not against their licence to operate. Afterall it is what everyone complains about with the corporate's.
