Have been in abit of not caring stage lately but suddenly all has changed - now have a horse good enough to take to the city that will be competitive and whalah WTF , prizemoney for midweeks our number one product is so so sad, $15000 per race - again WTF , Bunbury on Thursday same grade $15000 . To take a horse to race in Perth used to have a special aura about it, abit of prestige etc ... looks like Bunbury it is !!!

If the class of race is the same, and same prize money,  wouldnt you go where you have the best chance of winning :-?

what i'm saying is surely Ascot or Belmonts prizemoney should be higher then a provincial meeting, plus whatever race she goes in will win , so instead of travelling for the extra money in the city [oh thats right its not] Bunbury it is.

I absolutely 100% agree with you mate, it's fantastic that they have been able to boost country prize money but city racing needs to be what everyone is aspiring to, where the good horses are all headed but there is no incentive and hence there is no real difference between the quality running around at northam on a sunday or Ascot on a wednesday

    bloody hell.
that has me thinking, hard as that is!
    maiden
    improvers
    progressive
    intermediate?
    ?
    ?
    ?
    ?
and could you win only one, or was it two of each class(except for maiden and maybe improvers) before being ineligible for that class?

Simple fix would be to have nothing lower than a m68 at the Metro Midweekers

    :-? wait - that wouldn't work either,  they have M60's for 40k and M66's for 50k on a Saturday :-??

and they also have 3yo 1mw for 45k on saturday!
and 22.5k midweek for the same thing
    it's worse than a dog's breakfast.
pleased to see i am not the only one that knows it has been rooted.

WA regularly benchmark themselves against Victoria.

At any meeting in Victoria normal races are run for the same money.

Why and who in WA thinks they have it right and Victoria has it wrong.

Any deviation from the highest industry standard should only occur when the benefits clearly outweigh the negatives.

Not seeing any significant benefits here.

Also, can someone tell me why we don't have any races under a 64 bench mark for horses that have won more than 2 races? For example if a horse drops down to a rating of 50 they are out of the handicap of a 52-64. They have 0-58 in Victoria, why don't we have that grade here. Just another opportunity for owners to collect a cheque which has to be a good thing.
