They gave up an awful lot for him....yes, he can play a bit but injury has hurt him. Nonetheless, it's what I call the "Headland Factor"....surrounded by Voss, Aker, Black, Lappin, J.Brown, Lynch, Lepper, Michael, Ashcroft and co, Des looked like a super star and Fremantle paid a premium to get him. When he got to Freo, I think it is fair to say he didn't really deliver. Beams played with Swan, Pendlebury, Sidebottom etc and looked very good but he was not what Brisbane needed.....they needed strong forwards who could compete, not another midfielder....their midfield with Rich, Redden, Rockliff, Hanley etc was pretty decent and adding Beams and Robinson was not going to help in kicking goals....In my view, an extremely poor decision from which they gained almost nothing.

I might add that Beams did win the Fairest and Best...one of 4 joint winners!!!! What sort of dumb **** process comes up with 4 tied Fairest and Best winners....symptomatic of the bureaucratic clap trap and systems analysis rubbish that pours out of the Gabba like excess sewage form Shenton Park.

Amazing that North Melbourne have won in all of Brent Harvey's milestone games. 50th, 100th, 150th, 200th, 250th, 300th, 312th (club record), 350th, 400th and 427th (AFL record).

I hope you bet up accordingly as I did for the occasion #licencetoprintmoney

Wasn't someone crowing Mackenzie as all Australian last year?? Andrew carter was it?

On another note, how is danylle Pearce on ANY afl clubs list? He shouldn't even be playing for essendon.

Not only is he on Freo's list but they resigned him for two years.....and they are after a clone of him in the form of Brad Hill, another "Headland Factor" candidate...can't follow their thinking on this, paying a premium (Hawks won't give him away) for at best another marginal outside receiver.

I'm with you guys. Freo needs a big clean out, as does my Eagles. Too many passengers.

I'd be starting with Hill, Masten, Butler, Brown, Redden, Ellis, Jetta, and Bennell to name a few. Would even give LeCras away as is not going to win you a premiership. Apart from Jetta and Redden - all have been good servants but the time has come. Better staying in the wilderness for a few years and looking for the next crop of young guns.

^^^^agree, and not one of those players you named woudl be swapped for a first or second round pick..All second stringers and all stopping young/new players coming on and getting the experience to make us anything more than a top 8 team...Wellingham is so hit and miss i feel he could be put on the list also.

There is a component of the ladder called percentage Dungy.Iit is described with a symbol  that looks closely  like this % ever seen it, what it does is shows which teams on the same points have a higher or lower % the team with the higher % sits atop the ladder than the team with the lower %. Is that to hard for you to understand( its official west coast worst top 4 side in history). Funnily enough my mates 8 year old can get it but you cant. is that not what you said now they have gone to second have they why do you think there is such a thing called PERCENTAGE they were behind the 4 placed team on PERCENTAGE so not basically in the 4 .ON a lighter note   It was good to see Fremantle have red hot dip for Pav yesterday

Eric Mackenzie should not play AFL again this year.....or maybe ever

Very harsh Rio but I reckon he should be looking for a new club Brisbane would be ideal for all concerned he will be better next year for the run.
Oh Bewt, dump another bloke that is a C grader at best to the black hole of footballers that is Brisbane. They have been collecting "has been's and never was's" for a decade .....Amon Buchanon, Brent Staker, Brendan Fevola, Trent West, Jackson Paine, Xavier Clarke, Travis Johnstone, Mitch Robinson, Rohan Bewick, Andrew Raines, Mitch McGuire, Dane Beams, Luke McGuane, Brent Maloney and a few others so obscure I can't recall them. Whilst some of them can/could play a bit, most were genuine C or D graders and they sold the family silver to get them.....meanwhile, any decent players they drafted stayed 2 years and then walked out to bolster other clubs....too many to list  Polec, Aish, Docherty, Longer, Redden, Yeo, Leeuwenberger, Dalziell etc etc. We need another, in my view, pretty average defender like Eric, doubtless a great bloke and a real trier, like we need another formerly successfull ex Carlton CEO to go up there and top up his superannuation and continue to wreck the joint into total oblivion by backing a football department and coach that couldn't run a cold bath.
Some real average in the bottom list too JJ be it talent or injury, Longer, Aish, Luenberger, Karneszis.  Redden yet to show his worth..  But true some shocking recruiting West, Paine, in current crop waste of time, and the blokes that can play Beams, Christenson always injured. Mitch Robinson has revived his career, and still think Josh Walker can be handy for the next 2 years playing with a lot of young budding key position players.

The worry I think is too many mediocres Lester, Mayes, Green etc, others who yet to prove but expect big money Taylor, honest triers but average players Bewick etc, and the main worry players who seem to have lost some passion Handley, makes for a few more horror seasons to come.

I will put it out there Spinky, If you are on the same points as the 2nd team and marginally out on percentage you are truly in the wash up of Top 4, but after the expected weak effort at the MCG possibly now you are not, and if not for WB V NM this week, would have predicted they don"t even get a home final, but with results will make that happen, which is sad love to see them get rolled first week, and some pressure go back on Simpson & the coaching staff.

Don't get me wrong - they are nowhere, and likely never will be.
Your comment was re the coach looking comfortable though - and that's obviously because he's been told to / has the backing to play the kids, hence it's not on him.

You didn"t get what i said- that is not what I said.  How many times in that situation, do people say "we are equal 2nd" because same points, I hear from supporters many times

Coach just has to go, not produced desired results in his tenure IMO

okay  Loose I will put it this way if the ladder positions were the same after the last round as they were after round 18 were would have the Eagles finished, second fourth no fith .This post was started about Dungys comment about the Eagles being the worst team in the 4 of which according to the afl ladder they were not that is what I said maybe the ladder positions were lying. I don't care about people saying we are equal second ,third whatever you are on the ladder position you are on. as I stated that is what a percentage is for

Can't wait for Boomer to come out this week and break the most games ever played! ^:)^ ;)

On a side note Freo fans should be confident against the Weagles with Dawson out for 3 weeks!
