    Unlikely Falcon.

Extract from an interview with Plumptre (G1X)

He said he hoped a trainer would be announced by September and the
start of the spring (if not sooner) but it would be a one person job
across the two state racing operation and most likely Australian.

    “I
am leaning to a local who knows our racing, which is quite unique, our
handicapping system etc. You could bring the best out of Newmarket and
they mightn’t cut the mustard here, just like an Aussie going there and
struggling under their system, so yes we are searching in Australia.”

i wonder if he understands the enormous pressure the job will bring. I hope he had a good chat with john o'shea.

having said that...good luck to him.

does that mean he casts his father-in-law Mr. Cojuanco and his grandfathers saviour, The Dato aside?

Yes. Gooree issued a statement (forgotten where so cannot post) thanking and wishing him well for the future.

During the time we've had James and Monica as part of team we've experienced high levels of success;we thank them for their tenure w/Gooree and we wish them all the best in their future endeavours. Our Principal
Eduardo Cojuangco Jr has every intention to maintain his involvement in the racing industry in Australia and looks forward to continued success with the distribution of his racing stock to various trainers. He is both proud & supportive of the career choices both members of his family have taken and looks forward with enthusiasm to the future.

I think that's part of the appeal. The bloke has ambition to burn and Godolphin are tapping into that.

Don't think John will last as long as John...

he comes over as a bit of a "hooray henry" with a billionaire missus.

I recall there was a fall out with his grandpa before he died, the "partnership" nearly dissolved.

the guy will certainly know he's alive with godolfin calling the shots..the sheik  is a hard taskmaster.

I wonder if Macdonald will be back in the fold as top jock or will they rotate their UK jocks..Doyle, Buick etc.

    Blake Shinn is my tip...

Shinn is severely overrated AND has form. They would be hypocrites to hire Blake after sacking J Mac for betting on one of his rides. Although backing a horse you rode against-like Shinn did- is far worse.

Kerrin McEvoy is a clean skin and would be my tip.

i think k. mac. might enjoy being a free lance, remember he has already had an association with godolfin.

    Most jockeys have form...

McEvoy doesn't. Unless you count being on a retainer with Godolphin previously. If J Mac had got 6 months do you think he'd be straight back in there when his time was up? I'm sure James Cummings will have some input as to who he prefers, much like O'Shea with J Mac. But with McEvoy, you get a professional on and off the track. If he wants the job I'd say it's his.

He rode for Appleby during the spring though and did a damn good job. If they offer him enough cash I reckon he'd jump at it. I thought J Mac's form tapered off as the Spring rolled on and it may be that he had other things on his mind.

Think the riders will be determined by Plumtree, evidently he has all the say

Dead right plumtree carrys the sickle now..When Mcevoy first come back from Europe in 2008. as godophlin no 1 rider spent approx. 2 months on sidelines out first 4months with suspensions..Peter snowden was doing mounting  yard rants every meeting, murrihy had him in every meeting tell him his riding lacked initiative and your not in Europe cause theres not another lap to go went on for about six months till they realized he was closer to the shiek then all of them snowden was told to tone it down his the no1 rider and that's it.....

When O'shea got the job he made it quite clear j.mac.was his only choice, plumtrees  chance to regain the sickle was to sided with o'shea, left k.mcevoy thinking this is my job do I really  want it
with out 100% backing from trainer, henry wanted him out the way to close  to  the  shiek....
Mcevoy sent shiek email stating  he was going back freelance...So plumtree sits on top waiting to
can the next person when he feels threaten.

Plumptre said this morning that the intention at this stage was to use James Doyle.

Falcon what is a Hooray Henry? good name for a horse.
As a young buck he will only understand why he shouldn't have taken the job on 6 months down the track takes them a while to realise running the whole show isn't as much fun as it appears.

From what I understand and picked up from watching an interview, Kieran was trying very hard not to tell some one to go fire truck yourself at Godolphin Australia. I doubt he'd ride for them again unless it was O'Shea who he disliked.

pretty sure he was referring to Henry, 50...

Certainly not Godolphin overseas as he has ridden a few of Charlie Appelby's.

John Ferguson has stepped down from Godolphin. I thought this line from the story was interesting:

Bin Suroor also expressed frustration about having last year been forced to use James Doyle as a retained rider.

Things look to be getting quite 'stabby' over at Godolphin. Seems like a group of sheilas that will tear, claw and scratch to get their piece of the pie. I can see it now, "look at me Sheik, look at me." Weir and Waller must be laughing at their incompetence.
