The 6 weeks will be the only thing Bugg will be remembered for, he's a very average footballer. Gaff's loss will be huge for that mob.

Now Gaff being cheered like a hero and being got around by the team. Interested to hear WCE supporters on this. Not a good look to me.

    what a disgrace.
a dog act by gaff, he should be charged with assault.
and only fugwits could cheer him after that, pathetic.

So it's not okay to support somebody who made a mistake
Which will cost him big time ?
    Most Fairest Player going round

dont let the gaff incident take the focus away from how utterly terrible Freo are. They are literally miles off.

whatever it costs him is not going to be what he deserves.
they were cheering him off, EOS
if he was the fairest then brayshaw would not be in hospital would he?

I wonder if you Eagles supporters will cheer him when he is in the Kangas colours next year?

Didn’t Barry Hall go to court and got his sentence reduced that year to play finals. Complete brain fade by Gaff no excuse, I do think his intention was to punch him in the chest regardless gone , may have played his last game in the yellow and gold

    Andrew Gaff OMG
No winners out of this one. Brayshaw coming off was one of the saddest things I have seen on the footy field.
I reckon Ross's comments after the game has added extra spice to future Derbys if he still is around.
Gaff needs to throw himself at the mercy of the tribunal and hope this isnt season ending.
But he may well have played his last game in the blue and gold.
This has been the biggest week in football since Essendon were grabbing the headlines.

Just watched Ross Lyons press conference.
I wished he would answer the female staff sexual harassment claims as forth coming as he was talking about Andrew Gaff.
He gave the young female journo "you tell me " when he was asked legitimate questions towards the end.
He is a dead set w****er.
How is your team going Ross, under your coaching ????

If Bugg's 6 week suspension last yr is the precedent then Gaff is certainly looking at 7 or 8 weeks

I saw that as similar to when a player is applauded when they get stretchered off. That has always been a weird situation for me. The Gaff cheering is similar imo... They applaud the injured player as a sign of respect and best wishes. I reckon the crowd applauded Gaff for the same reason..To wish him well and give him their best wishes.

Don't think you can compare him to Barry Hall - a lifetime thug. Or the young fella earlier this year - just starting his career ...But anywhere between 3-6 weeks you'd accept and just move on.

Great opportunity for one of the second stringers to step up to the plate

I was at the game and was sitting on the same side of the ground to where Gaff whacked Brayshaw off the ball.
I didn't see the incident and there was no replay shown on the screens.
So unless you were in a corporate box with a tv or listening to the radio there was a chance you did not know what happened. People around me were being sent texts to say Gaffs season over.
Still didn't know what for.Eventually I got sent a text with a link to see the footage. Right about the time Michael Johnson K'od Gaff in that head high bump.
Emotions were running high and the tribe was supporting its man like every other team supports its players in the same way.
The fact that Gaff was the fairest ball player ever to pull on a set of boots would have added to the crowd support.
And the fact that he may be heading east the support was to show him the love they have for him.
The game had more passion than any I have been to for a long long time.

Totally agree with you on that!
Looked liked he took a swing around shoulder height and old mate dipped his head or the momentum of his chin dropping down had that wild swing land on his jaw.. injury was horrible but the incident itself is nowhere near as bad as everyone in WA is making it out to be

Losing teeth and drawing so much blood has made it a lot worse than what it is

Should be criminal charges laid. There's plenty of precedence. Could be facing jail time and at least six figures in civil damages.

If you own a phone then you would have seen the incident 10 mins after it happened. I'm pretty sure most at the ground had some idea what had happened

Did the SES put out an alert ???
Only telling you what was happening around me.

So what I'm hearing is that if people knew what had happened then they would have acted differently later on the match?

If you were watching you would have seen the incident and/or the aftermath of it. Pretty sure if it was of the eagles going down it be a different story.

The incident was off the ball. Ross Lyon said 100m and it was actually about 25m .
Even the Dockers players had to be told of the incident because it was a delayed reaction by them to retaliate.
Why would the fairest ball player in the AFL throw a punch for the first time in his AFL career ????
Maybe because he had had enough of being blocked 25m off the ball and like a lot of people had a brain snap.

    That is all true.

I just didn't like the way the fans and players were cheering and back slapping like he was retiring or had done something heroic.

The send off rule would have diffused the situation there and then at least the game goes on without the distraction which was trying to kill Gaff. I'm not saying this is an eagles supporter thing either. It's been like this forever. Passion incites the rediculous, that will never change.

Mu view is similar to Hash. Was aimed at shoulder height, and unfortunatly it got the kid. Its a one in 100 hit, i bet if he tried to land it like that it would have been an air swing. Problem is he swung the arms and it connected. has to pay some sort of price for it now.

Now "bandicoot" Pavlich is saying 100m off the ball. Pav if you want to be taken seriously just report the facts.
Next time you commentate on a Dockers match Pav, leave that giant chip that resides on your shoulder at home.

7 weeks for Gaff in my opinion and as an Eagles supporter I think that is more than fair. At a loss that a player like Gaff who has been criticised his whole career by our supporters and opposition supporters as being soft would do something of this nature.

How many Essendon drug cheats were given a rousing applause when they came back to play their first game after being suspended????

Its what supporters do. Its what being in a team sport is about. When the chips are down team mates and supporters rally around and offer support in any way they can.....

An ugly outcome to a out of character act. He'll get what he deserves from the tribunal. At least he is goign to admit to his action, unlike the Essendon drug cheats.

    bull$hit rio, they are fugwits.
to get what he deserves would mean the club telling him he is sacked.
why did he keep coming back on?
they should have taken him off and left him off, the game was well won.
