And that's the answer...What punters/bookmakers see in U.S. Navy Flag a bit of a mystery. Watched replay today of Everest - never went a yard.
    Kementari was a massive run.
D.K. Weir first. Boiled lollies on Geelong Cup day - Darrel Lea Chocolates today.

The old system was in place there for Voodoo Lad supporters - have something on the stablemate!

The three year olds might get the weight relief at WFA...but they still have to be exceptional and if there not, are found wanting. Those older horses - been there - done that. There battle hardened.

Would Weir have taken no winners on Wednesday but land the big Group One Manikato winner tonight ?
    Yes.

    After 21 runners at Geelong without a winner...D.K.Weir #fightback.
It's one of the beauties of racing - trainers, jockeys, owners, punters all going through rough spells...the secret is to keep going!

Can't keep up with the WFA scale but am pretty sure the three year old fillies at one stage WFA carried 46.5kgs or less...then they went to 48.5, tonight Sunlight had 51kgs. It's not quite the advantage it use to be.

    Depends on distance riders.

3yo filly at this time of the year would carry 48kg in the Cox Plate

Yes just went back and saw what one of my favourite horses Samantha Miss carried when third to Maldivian in the Cox Plate - 47.5kgs for Glenn Boss.

Patrick Erin scratched from the Moonee Valley Cup...in comes your Sully @Thunderstruck...good depth in the Cup this year with both emergencies coming into the field having some claims.

This is like the old MVC...full sized field of 15 and open. It had fallen away in numbers a little bit recently. Hard to believe but there was a time where the race was main race of the day and the Cox Plate the second main race.

In early fluctuations Ventura Storm has been the big firmer & Red Cardinal the drifter.

rough spells usually last months or years... a rough spell for the Weir stable lasted from wednesday till that friday night, a whole 48 hours  :))

He looked pretty down after the Caulfield Cup. Especially after Kings Will Dream bungled the start. Then Wednesday was a no go zone, for a big stable like his, winners need to be rolling in and fast.
He will never go years having a rough spell or he won't be training!

They carry 2kg less than the 3yo colts and geldings so it's 47.5kg.  Yankee Rose was the last brave enough to try...

The filly Verry Elleegant is scratched from the Vase. Aramayo is outright fav now and starts rom gate 10 instead of 14.

$16 Quaddie donation for 10% and about the same confidence.
Not putting the two favourites in first or second leg. A quick game is a good game.
    1,2,3,4,7,10.
    3,5,8,9,10,11,13,16,17.
    Winx.
    1,4,5.

Manikato Stakes run as rough as guts last night, Murphy and Dunn get holidays. Houtzen another forget run.
Best EW today, Savoie, on pace in the last.

Go the mighty mare Winx too!

Difficult track to win at the Valley ( punting wise ) haven't won there since Octagonal won the 1995 Cox Plate! Now that was a three year old - exceptional.
That's what they have to be to win these WFA races against the older horses.

Another on pacer with Charge @Thunderstruck...first two in running finished 1,2.
Somebody mentioned Ringerdingding on the site recently...that was a massive run.
He's 20/1 and 5/1 place for the WA Guineas on Tabtouch - never bet on the all in markets - but if he arrives here and goes to the barrier on today's run will be shorter than 20/1.

Moonee Valley is a goat track and a place where I don’t bet. Leaders winning all races so far is rubbish for such a prestigious day of racing. Find the leader and you are half a chance. Only the great Winx can beat the bias...can’t she!

DK Weir put Ringerdingding over the hurdles after last start when showing no interest in the run. Certainly sharpened him up today. Doing the same with Yogi.
    Interesting tactic.

Jumps, hurdles is a common tactic you often read about.

Good to see the Tassie filly continue her great form..that's now 9 starts and 6 wins for Mystic Journey.

Well rated Cliffs Edge on speed and heavily backed favourite. Prized Icon good ride just not quite good enough and the Cummings horse a terrific third at 40/1.

I thought DO would have gone further forward. Good run. On pacers dominating the goat track.

Duca was a big drifter too was 14/1 earlier in the week and SP was about 40/1.
Had him and Prized Icon 10/1 in first leg...only to be beaten by the favourite. Oh for about half a length.

Was 5th in the Toorak Cliffs Edge...just behind horses like Land Of Plenty, Hartnell and Shillelagh...although Siege Of Quebec did run third in that race but knocked up today to run a beaten fourth.
