Very sad news. A champion on the track and then a champion sire.

It doesn't sound like it was a sudden passing either-'loss of mobility'. I think that's going to weigh heavily on the decision whether or not to retire The Autumn Sun. I thought it was odd that it was suggested that perhaps last weekend was his last start this prep or maybe for good. I fully anticipated he might be vulnerable in the Rosehill Guineas and that's how it played out, although he got the win regardless.

He had a long, wonderful life and 23 was a pretty good age, realise he wasn't a pet, but with animal friends, always say don't give them a life - give them a good life!

Think certainly had that - some don't. Knowing when their time is up, not easy and challenging.

Who can forget the clash at Caulfield between him and Testa Rossa. A humdinger.

As a stallion, Redoute's Choice was without peer as he sired 163 Stakes winners of 329 Stakes races across his 19 seasons. That's a win strike rate of 49.5%...Outstanding.

Now this is where the word CHAMPION can be used to describe a horse.

it would be interesting to know how much he made for his connections in stud fees.
I read somewhere that at one stage of his career he was earning $330k a bonk...
    L-)
somebody is sure to know...I could not even hazard a guess...a couple of hundred million??

Remember when Rick Hoare Lacey sold his share(I think it was 50%)? Can't remember the exact number but the horse was quickly worth about 100x that b-(
