Talk on radio this morning briefly about the number of 2yo's not going on to the Sires Produce. At least 7 or 8 were mentioned. Tinsip seemed to be the only horse that finished in the front half of the field that was mentioned, that is going on. Of the last four seasons, 12 was the most in both 2015 &2016, then 11 in 2017 and 10 last year. By rights it should be an easier race to win than the Karrakatta Plate.

So do you think they will get double figures this year ?

Field of nine starters. That in itself is not that big an issue, although 16 would have been fabulous for a Group race. Four maiden's out of the nine runners, only two Saturday winners.

Forget the debate about Westspeed, we have got bigger problems.

Yep, tracks too hard = sore horses (especially young ones) = nothing up and about to fill the fields

Can Dig Deep give Tony Leighton another win to top off the fairy tale? There will be a few barracking for him again.

That's the first I've heard of that for a while @Tivers .. DMac's 3yo Sat apparently was shinny. Is that what you're referring to or are there others?

Had a couple of 2yo’s thought might get up and go to it, but all shinny.
Was only a general comment though - not stable specific.
And yes, tracks are better than have been, but it’s still very hard to keep them up.

In a race that was already short of quality, it's a genuine pity that the Karrakatta Plate winner couldn't back up. Simply no longer relevant this year as a Group race. Sure it will get talked up as if it is some sort of feature, but I doubt it will be a form race going forward to the three year old season.

    They rarely are.
Primarily because a fraction of the crop have even raced yet.

Sooner or later he will get a Vancouver or a Pierro that will run as a 2YO.

Betfair says Tinsnip will not repeat its Karrakatta run. Picks itself on form but its being heavily laid on BF
