i dont disagree on that either
Either way, its an attempt at a Federal Election booster, or an impetus for Sale at a State level.
Any potential Sale must be carefully negotiated to ensure the best possible return to Industry.
Not an instantaneous 2/3rds giveaway and squabble over the rest, like Seagulls over chips.

I didn't take into account that Racing only gets 35% of the sale price !! $105M if they get the price they now think it's sale will bring.

Why will there be a mass exodus?
Rightly or wrongly the industry doesn't own the TAB, so any funds from the sale is extra investment and is set aside for infrastructure spending.
the sale of the TAB isn't really the important issue IMO, the relevant issue is the agreement the industry gets from the purchaser which will fund the industry going forward. Remembering the purchaser will still have to pay the taxes to the state government.
the consumption tax will see 15% come back to the industry I think.
Think you jumping at shadows, but I agree the better the sale price the more for the industry for infrastructure spending. the important issue is the future funding arrangement going forward. Given the experience of Tassie and SA I think the negotiators should be well aware of potential short comings.

Regardless of whether you support the sale of the TAB, that train has left the station. it is rightly or wrongly a government asset, the decision to sell has been made.
those that are involved in negotiating a path forward will/ are negotiating a deal that supports funding of the industry. I am sure that the lessons of Tassie and SA are resonating.

Or as in that movie..."I'll have what she's having".
Tab Fixed Odds betting was never brought in for people "in the know", that's for sure.
Not so much with WA Tab - but can't work out why - let's say a big punter connected with stable or whatever keeps on winning - well then to the corporate taking his/her bet's why don't they just start backing his wagers themselves! Bet with him - are they not that confident ? Then stand the bet's.
