Bit of breeding running around with the $71 winner at Pinjarra yesterday, Magestic Prince. 4th dam is Ar Miss, mum of the great champion mare Armalight.....dozens of high class winners spread throughout the family for this horse that previously raced at Kal for Matt Saw.....and went career best 1.54.3 yesterday.

Very smoooth performance ...expected to hear you burst into a Dean Martin type number as you signed off JJ

Haha @curmudgeon .....Little Old Wine Drinker Me or Everybody Loves Somebody Sometimes? Nah, I think the lad Walker is doing his best trying to prop up a pretty tired format and is playing a straight and earnest bat.....way too much International Crap...b/ball, soccer, gridiron....all stuff that receives more than adequate coverage elsewhere. It is "Racing Radio" after all and that should be its focus....local as well, I personally don't give a toss about some distant Queensland Race Meeting or a Dog Race at Fraser Island....glad they are doing race day previews for Monday and Tuesday Harness meetings, something that got lost in the past amongst the boorish diatribe from Hardie and co. Hope I didn't kill off the ratings too much.

Really liked the way you focussed on how important the country tracks are in WA JayJay. Owners like you keep the game alive.

    Cheers cisco

Agree with that - and trotting race day previews are a must

When i had my lovely 4 year sojourn in Tassie in the early 2000s - they had a very good daily racing format on the local radio down their

And Bill Hutchison the ex Trots bookie - he would do a daily preview of that days Vic Trotting meetings - it would go for about 15 minutes - and i enjoyed listening to it - he would give all the prices - the race by race analysis - it was very good - then give his quaddie multiple selections etc

I can remember years ago Stewie Lowe on a Friday afternoon - about 4 oclock he would do a preview of GP - it was very good i use to listen to it

Again years ago - when i did listen to Racing Radio - but John Hunt on a Friday morning use to do a brilliant preview of GP

Getting back to Tassie - 6 oclock in the morning - they use to have the Victorian radio show - with Kevin Bartlett the Richmond champ  - and it was racing and AFL Football - thats it ( none of that American crrap ) - people could ring in and talk racing and football - it was very entertaining

No disrespect to any horses or connections racing tonight at GP but seriously has anyone seen such boring, terrible racing then tonight’s meeting? I hope things improve in the new season

I believe the fields such as at GP tonight are a direct result of the "tiered" programming rather than an integrated program of development. Half the horses that would have bolstered the Tue meetings in terms of numbers and quality have moved to the US or interstate. Exclusion of the lower portion of any pyramid always ends in disaster.

Pinjarra  wasn't exactly steaming ---re field sizes...….The right month to get a handle on who's left in the industry, and the ones who hold a active- licence. horse numbers ,class,.

    We know 2003------549 drivers-----------2018-------341 drivers
                    2003------757 trainers----------2018-------486 trainers
                    2003------637 foals--------------2018-------400 foals

No doubt the harness boat is sinking  with 4-5 holes, the best that can happen is to plug a couple, and prolong the process,---Too late to make the big calls, that were needed to be done  20 years ago.

Just as a matter of interest Savethegame what were those big calls 20 years ago that would have saved the industry./

I can tell you one Chariots - Support local breeders to the hilt to ensure maximum gain for the participants who keep the game alive.

Buying a truckload of anfo and turning the Casino into landfill would have been a good starting point.

A certain irony in that Bernbon....named after Bernie Ogden and Bonnie Sweetapple .....would go on to win good races for Jack Miles....but only when Woody drove him!!!

Gee watching with what the Dixons get away with in QLD in hard too swallow. That last race then Race 7. The drive on the second horse was an ordinary look. You can tell which one was heavily backed. Yep the one which driver was not all arms and legs up the straight steering left and right.

Jum google - "Albion Park harness racing integrity lost".
The article is from August 2014, but you'll get the idea, and that's just the beginning.

Is Lauren Jones still around? Haven't seen her name for a while although to be fair with the field sized it is bloody hard for those outside the top few to get drives
  • GlenGlen    38 posts
Yeah she is, unfortunately there seems to be more drivers then horses around at the moment

Won't see many better first four dividends with a $1.07 fixed odds winner in a field of nine on Bunbury race 6.
Driver's of the bolters 2nd and 3rd...Shannon Suvaljko of course and Morgan Woodley...just can't leave em out.

Over 3.6k with the $1.07 shot saluting :-O
Hall - Suvaljko - Woodley three of the better drivers in the race 1,2,3.

Not sure how he's been going lately, and does have his critics, but 99% of the times seen him, he gives horses with limited ability every chance of running a place Morgan Woodley.

Must drive bad races when don't see the meeting, sensible drive on the one paced trier and limited plodder Mondooley Mach, has the knack of getting them into the placings many a time.

Suvaljko drive on the Disco runner - a 90/1 pop - well he's does that.

Just on 3.4k the first four not 3.6...still a nice one with the $1.07 fave winning, and Suvaljko in the money.

Second fave at double figures Triple Brie did gallop away and was a good run, but 3rd and 4th fave's Iam Lambros and Punters Dream - it really gave the others a chance, those two good luck ever backing them.

Can someone please enlighten someone who has no idea about trots. Why are GP and Bunbury both programmed for tonight and then nothing tomorrow?
