Thank god for that great innings by S.Marsh 101* to steer us home in the Final with some support from Agar 29*.

Interestingly WA have actually won the most One Day Domestic titles even more than the Australian 2nd XI (aka NSW)!!!

Watch the outcry when he's first picked (after Cummins & Stark..........and Smith) for the ODI team though.

Today's Shield game between Victoria and WA at the MCG was suspended, with WA on 3/89 (Carder 44, Siddle 3/21), due to a dangerous pitch.

    Match was abandoned.

The match can be rescheduled if an alternative venue and time can be arranged (as per Cricket Australia's playing conditions), however that would appear to be highly unlikely, therefore both teams will get three points each, plus whatever the average is of the bonus points awarded in the other two Shield games.

    QLD 240 (Street 58, Conway 5/15) v NSW 0/4
    TAS 254 (Milenko 100, Agar 3/68, Mennie 3/76) v SA 0/38

Why should VIC get any points at all they were responsible for dishing up the pitch that was deemed too dangerous to play on, surely WA should receive the full points?

    Agree

If you’re bottom team hosting top just prepare unsuitable pitch and steal a draw - easy points.

NSW and SA won their respective matches outright, SA ending an 18-game winless streak (the 8th longest in Shield history, the record is 40 games by Tasmania in 1984-88).

NSW v QLD - NSW won by 9 wickets
    QLD 240 (Street 58, Conway 5/15) & 176 (Khawaja 54) v NSW 375 (Henriques 116, Nevill 88*, Abbott 86, Neser 4/60) & 1/42

TAS v SA - SA won by 6 wickets
    TAS 254 (Milenko 100) & 261 (McDermott 89, Agar 5/53) v SA 346 (Weatherald 126, Carey 73, Bird 4/70) & 4/170 (Neilsen 86*, Bosisto 47*)

WA and VIC should each receive 4.765 points for the abandoned match (3 for the NR plus 1.765, which was the average bonus points earned by the other four teams).

    POINTS (after 6/10 rounds)
    1 New South Wales 40.35 (5 wins, 1 draw)
    2 Western Australia 26.415 (2 wins, 2 draws, 1 NR, 1 loss)
    3 Queensland 26.18 (3 wins, 1 draw, 2 losses)

Correction, WA and VIC will actually receive 4.64 points each, after it was confirmed by Cricket Australia today that the match won't be rescheduled.

    Gilly has called it.
The bloke can’t bat... Carey has panels on him
  • PAULPAUL    2,665 posts
Statswise, he has scored 454 runs in his last 24 innings, averaging 20.63 with 4 ducks and one fifty (58 v England at Old Trafford).

In fairness to him, he probably got out to one of the better balls that was bowled yesterday, jagged in off the seam.
  • TiversTivers    7,720 posts
He’s also in the team as keeper and captain, not a batsman.

Carey's keeping leaves a lot to be desired certainly not at Test level, saw him firsthand in the recent SS match at the WACA vs WA.

Not sure Paine is the master glove man either

I am not a huge Paine fan but he is a far better gloveman than Carey believe me.
You may get away with average wicketkeeping in T20 or One Day games but not real Test Cricket over 5 long gruelling days especially up to the stumps to the spinner Lyon.
Carey's glovework reminded me of Wayne Phillips in the 1980s a batsman who occasionally keeps!

Alex Carey is on the rise... the other bloke... flat lining...
    just my opinion.

I’m glad someone else has finally said it. Carey is a great bloke, can bat ok but as a keeper leaves a hell of a lot to be desired and that is being nice!

Spot on Gil I dont think some here realise how important a good wicketkeeper is to a side in Test Cricket and I am afraid after watching him closely the other week at the WACA in the Shield Carey is a long way from being a good wicketkeeper let alone Test standard!

I’d have to agree, Paine is an average batsman but a solid keeper.

He does well keeping on later days, when the balls spinning in directions you can’t predict.

Didn't see any of the Scorchers BBL last night but I heard the crowd was booing Shaun Marsh.
I am sure a lot of the people including kids were booing with a smile on their face and having a chuckle.
Let's not get too serious on this issue.
I reckon those same people will be applauding him when he next plays for W.A in the Sheffield shield.
The BBL is entertainment after all.

Listening  Steve Smith deny he has an issue with short pitch bowling before proceeding to struggle is interesting to say the least. He’d better figure out how to play it cos more is coming his way.
