Belmont 23/5/20

West Australian Racing
R1- FLOAT OUR BOAT gets the shades on for his third run in and has been improving. Ran fourth in the race most of his opponents contested two weeks ago but has upside unlike others who have been at their peak for a while. Likely comes out running and if he can lead or breeze should stick on well.

R2- DAD’S BIGHEADED was scratched from the midweeks to run in this. Has been searching for the extra couple of hundred metres and from the gate can be more prominent. Has been good without winning in two starts to date. Willing to risk CHARLETON EDDIE who has to run 1300 having missed a run and with 60.5kg.

R3- RESORTMAN showed he can do it on Raceday winning stylishly and in good time first up. Should only improve with the run under his belt and looks a class above his rivals. Is versatile and can go forward or back from the draw and while he is short, he deserves to be.

R4- FREEZ’EMOFF was good against the pattern behind UTGARD LOKI last start when strong to the line. Came to town after winning the Geraldton cup to run third around most of her market rivals. Should be suited back to Belmont and in a race with a little more tempo which will allow her to really show her turn of foot here.

R5- RIVALRY GALORE has been a little unlucky at his last two. Two back could t find a run anywhere and last start probably pulled the trigger a bit early on a day where the fence was electric. Back to Belmont should suit and will appreciate the racing room he should get from barrier twelve. Just needs a cart into the race to be competitive.

R6- SHOWMANSHIP is a potential superstar and expect him to prove that here. Has very bad feet and looks as though he’s been saved for Belmont because of this. Both career runs to date have been impressive around horses like Lipstick Flickers and Samizdat and the recent trial was very quiet. He’s a nice horse.

R7- Best Bet: MASSIMO gets to 1400 for the first time this prep and at Belmont. That could be the winning formula as he should be able to settle on the speed and he goes better around the wider Belmont track. This field is similar to last start and with even luck should be hard to get past.

R8- MAGNIFORCE is a big price for a horse with his share of ability. Has been running well in Kalgoorlie and if he can bring that form to town he’s in the mix. Not a whole lot of speed in this and just needs a clean getaway to show his best as he can run some fast sectionals from the front.

R9- SON OF BACCHUS has been two nice runs over unsuitable trips this prep but finds a nice race here. Gets to 1600, drops in grade and finds a race where he can roll forward and race on speed. Winkers come off to help him settle at the trip and looks good eachway value in the get out.

Tricky card, I don't mind Ancient Remedy in R1, she looks ready to fire 4th up and stepping up to 1600 for the Pontiff.

R3 I need and expect a good steer from Kristy Bennett to hopefully secure a 2nd place finish on Baby Blues, if the very talented fave was to be off his game this super consistent filly or even McAuliffe's gelding could secure an upset victory.

R4 Loki can win again the odds are just a bit skinny, he is not one of mine but Noir De Rue might be the main danger.Imo Freezemoff is half a level off those two ability wise.

R6 Not convinced re: Train's big wrap on Showmanship, has had nearly 12 months off and issues necessitating such a lengthy layoff by the sounds of it..trial was very good no doubt..Looks a risk but I concede i may have egg on my face later.
I reckon Platinum Bullet will beat her, likely gets back a good few pairs from the sticky gate then Joey will utilise the nice long straight to get wound up and hopefully go bang B-) pricing of 4.20 vs 2.05 is too big a gap.
It's a big field though so anything can happen, i may have a spec on No Apology also imo he is one to follow through the winter and likely wet tracks.

With the blessing of buddha I'll be in front at this stage to then justify having a crack at Order Of St George R8.

    Happy punting.

ffs you are a nitpicker, slip...... >:P

ok, got that off my chest....first week back at the concrete tomb always throws up a few ruffies.
the one i was referring to is Duck Feet, been screaming out for 2100m. yes, i know Pope has 3 in it. the 41's fixed is just what the doc ordered.

another few to keep an eye on are mrs browns boy, rosebush and the escort.
touch of silver with a run over the distance is not without a good chance.

I'm glad I never fell into Hope You Dance - tossed up between Hip Wiggle and Domineer. Domineer was lacklustre, as was my coin toss. No doubt it will win at odds when least expected.

Tactical manoeuvre Falcon that worked wonders as you nominated not one horse but a few.

You have named two of my roughies which is a concern if we are on the same wave length :D
Mrs Browns Boys & Duck Feet which should go better at this track.

Rocky Path has been underachieving for ages but will also appreciate the return to Belmont.

Hat's off to Train he was spot on, a few average one's went around in that! King Blitz would have likely won that race today.

No excuses for the 2nd and 3rd placegetters and especially Black Ducati, Luke's Gold is seriously low flying.

3 short priced favs got up today pretty easily, if you can’t pick the one that’s a risk it’s only one persons fault lol.

My point is it goes on to much that horse never  went in run and gave zero is my point legless for its price in market.

My point is every short priced fav can’t get up, if it did we’d all quit our jobs and just back them........

The best horse in the country currently is probably Nature Strip and he can throw in a shocker every now and then when no one expects it. Yet you can’t forgive a 3yo in a 16 horse field
