R1- LACEVINSKY is starting to become costly but deserves one more chance here. Has now been fairly luckless at his last three after finding himself three deep from barrier three and battling away to finish within 2L of them last start. Prior to that had been getting bumped around and he isn’t overly big. Gets out to 1400 here and his two prior runs at the trip were good behind Not To Be Mist. Blinkers go on as does an in form Ramoly and he should get an easy time near the front of the field.
R2- SCHOOLHOUSE ROCK was back to his best last start when circling the field from last and winning soft. That was off the back of an inconclusive first up run when missing the jump over 1000m and never getting warm. He looked a promising type in his first campaign and his trial leading into this campaign suggested he could win a race like this. Smaller field suits as does the barrier so that he doesn’t have to sit last.
R3- Best Bet: EEYORE WAYZ was a massive run last start behind a couple of key Winterbottom Stakes chances. And did so under WFA conditions which means he comes back to a 66+ and carries the same weight. He was 3/3 over a 1000m before that when unleashing an electric turn of foot and may just be a short course specialist. Chris Parnham on and blinkers on are massive ticks and the wide gate should allow him to sit deep with cover and avoid traffic.
R4- KELVIN did it the hard way first up at 1400. Crossed to the fence from 16 and rolled along with 59kg and finished just in behind a couple of handy 3yos. Will strip fitter here, drops 2.5kg up in grade and looks like having an easier time of it up front drawn in five. His form from last prep was pretty good in some high rating races and if he can continue to improve off that first up run he could be in for big campaign.
R5- TRUE ATTRACTION was given none last start when dragged back to last on the fence in a slow run race. He was then taken to the extreme outside in the straight and flew home to get within 2L of the winner. First up he was second behind Railway Stakes favourite Inspirational Girl and is now third up at 1500 looking for a golden ticket to a rematch. He looks better suited at 1500 than TRULY GREAT and drawn outside it is less likely to find traffic.
R6- TOO CLOSE THE SUN hadn’t run over 1400 since his debut but went super first up when only picked off late by Inspirational Girl. He goes better second up and will be much better up to 1800 in a race he looks like leading comfortably. From the outside gate he can take his time to get all the way across and goes much better when allowed to do his own thing. He won a Warrnambool cup carrying 1.5kg less and should only get better heading towards the Perth Cup.
R7- SNICKERDOODLEDANDY backed up a luckless first up run with a superb finishing burst to win the Burgess Queen. Sat back and wide and was off the bit on the corner but kept coming to nail KISSONALLFORCHEEKS on the line. They cleared out from third in an almost identical field to this and she should only improve further out to 1600. From barrier three likely tries to sit alongside something drawn inside her to avoid the fence and if she gets clear running she’ll be hard to beat.
R8- INDIAN PACIFIC was forced to find last start when having his first crack against open class. Sat outside Mervyn on that occasion and was dropped off on straightening but was able to find plenty and still hold STAGEMAN who he faces again. Like the month between runs to allow him to get over the first up performance and looks like getting a similar run with Condor Heroes drawn deep. His form last prep was super and he looks to have gotten better.
R9- ACONITE won with a bit up her sleeve first up on cup day. Sat deep the trip and went straight past them over 1400. Gets to 1600 second up and was super consistent over that trip through the late part of the Belmont season around horses like Truly Great, Montelena and Leading Girl. That’s really good form for 66+ and gets a soft track to allow her to show her best. Will be looking for cover somewhere midfield and with a cart into the race can repeat the dose second up.

Track will be fine (good) come the Guineas next week
Not sure I agree with Wolfy's assessment of his filly where the track conditions likely had a say in the result but I also dont mind them spruiking their horses..definitely has plenty of ability.
