the two of them, w&s should have been consigned to the cricket scrap heap long ago. but CA must win at all cost...even throwing all morality out the window.

and all those that called for Harris to go back in...............
Would have just put Wade back up to open (did better there anyway), and put Head back in at 5.

Labuschagne keeps on delivering luckily for us.Wade has been ok but i guess averaging around 30 he will always be under the microscope.
We don't lose at the Gabba am anticipating we will bowl very well and keep that record in tact.

true that, we're gonna need them especially in the 1st dig to get us on top.

And now with 2 quick wickets lost we can watch Paine bore us to tears with his survival mode batting, destroying our ok run rate as he tries to cover his own arce..

Please...if we banned every International cricketer that has tampered with the cricket ball over the years we would not be able to field a Test side worldwide....even for those that have been caught red handed as that would immediately exclude the England Captain Joe Root & the SA Captain Faf DuPlessis straight away!

The difference between those countries and Australia was we actually BANNED our players caught and for 12 months (Smith, Warner & Bancroft) and not just for a Test or ODI either whilst the other countries Eng, SA etc allowed their players caught continue on and only faced a measly fine from the ICC (#the BCCI in disguise)!

Remember the Ashes series in England in 2005-09 with the English using lollies/mints saliva on the ball to gain extra swing, the Pakis & Indians with their bottletops scuffed on the ball, sawdust in the pockets or biting the ball as other examples over the years?

Yeh Falc your a hard man, they got pretty heavily punished i have no issue at all with them returning and playing now..what happened to Cam Bancroft is he out of form? that's the pity he was probably the "innocent" in that saga..or is it political idk at all as i dont follow the goings on(gossip)that closely.

No one suggesting he’s out of form / not good enough.
    He’s injured.

Surely Paine cannot continue on as both a Captain & Wicketkeeper as he is currently a liability at both at the moment.
Continues to drop catches (6 for the series so far) and his DRS stuff ups are becoming as laughable as Shane Watson's were with his when given out lbw and immediately calling for a review.

Wasn't Cummins being mooted as in the mix for Skipper?

Either good batting or average bowling saw India get to 336 today after we bloody had them 6 for 180 odd...
Two days and an hour or two of catch up time? to forge a lead of 320+ and then hopefully bowl them out in a day of 100 odd overs. All this dependent on our run rate tomorrow and of course batting well enough to get to that figure!

Add in the weather TS as rain is predicted especially Day 5.
Australia's dumb short pitched bowling allowed India to add 150 from the tail, Paine dropping Washington also didnt help.

ohh more rain forecast VK? damn, well that stuffing around today when should have rolled them for maybe a 100 less could be very costly then!

Not that i think they will decide now or maybe even this year but what are your thoughts on a fast bowler as captain? i rate Cummins highly as a cricketer/leader just unsure about a bowler dealing with everything else in the field as well as his bowling.

There haven't been many fast bowlers as captain in world cricket but a couple did pretty well.

Imran Khan, Kapil Dev and Bob Willis come to mind, particularly Imran

Imran & Kapil were both (legendary) all rounders Tony and won World Cups under their Captaincy, Bob was an out and out bowler.
Richie Benaud was another great all rounder who Captained Australia successfully.
There have been many, many less successful bowler/Captains over history.

Surely Steve Smith has to be our next Captain in waiting, he has served his penance and we really have no one else ready or capable at the moment.

Anyone who doubted that India couldn't beat Australia and retain the Border-Gavaskar trophy should take a long hard look at themselves. India is a world class Test team with depth. To beat Australia in Australia is an outstanding effort. As for Australia - things need to change....in terms of batting...they can't rely on Labaschange and Smith and for the bowling they can't rely on Cummins and Hazelwoood. As a team they lack depth and have been found out. Lots of work to do. A great series win to India who have had players out injured and also had their best batsman Kohli go back to India after the first Tesr for the birth of his first child.

Sick of hearing "must play test at Brisbane", regardless of the weather and that no one attends.

Deserved the win the Indians but there is no hiding the fact we were mostly **** the whole series, take the out of this world bowling effort in the first test(ironically when Kohli was still on deck)and we were a bit lucky to even win one test.

TBF India made wholesale changes to their team after the first test too, which worked.

Most were made through injury or unavailability too it must be said.
Missing at some point during this Test Series for India were- Kohli, Rohit, Jadeja, Ashwin, Bumrah, Shami, Yadav, Ishant due to injury or unavailability whilst young guns in Pant, Gill, Washington, Siraj, Saini, Natarajan & Thakur all came in and made a huge IMPACT whilst we stayed with the badly underperforming- Wade, Paine, Starc & Lyon for the whole series whilst Burns, Head & Harris were in at times and did next to nothing.

Kind of what i said in a far more simplistic way..we were shizz LOL.. BUT well put your analysis of the series and they were just too good and in our backyard, dont like it but it's a fact...

Pant was brought in intentionally and was pretty much the difference thereafter.

Commentators and fans carry on about the umpire blunders in the BBL.
The Mitch Marsh dismissal or non dismissal which ever way you look at it highlighted the frustration of the batsmen in the umpiring shocker. Was Mitch slagging off the umpire or was he directing his abuse at the bowler?
What part should the bowler and wicket keeper play in any reprisals. They were the ones that falsely appealed and put undue pressure on the umpire. Almost akin to cheating.
I compare it to soccer players taking a dive to win a penalty. Sometimes they get yellow carded for faking the contact.
When they bring in the DRS system it should stop a lot of bu****it appeals.

  • detonatordetonator    4,360 posts
Is there a rule in cricket that states you cannot appeal excessively and or on ridiculous decisions ?
