The protests aren't ticketed events, hence the cricket etc are controllable.

In the height of the pandemic people were fined for being outdoors and not social distancing etc.
So that is a way of trying to control the numbers and the potential spread.
Obviously the protest on the 26th January is ok because the risk is minimal. Zero mention of social distance rules and masks when news services were covering the protests.
But holding a sporting event under the same virus risk period and crowds are restricted.
I get the races and the BBL cricket is ticketed and they can control the numbers but why are we restricting the numbers ?
    Does not make sense.

30 Billion is the budget for Indigenous Affairs.

Jacinta Price, the Indigenous deputy Mayor of Alice Springs, and Warren Mundine, well known spokesperson for the Aboriginal community, and former Labor politician, would, like me and Falcon, and other objective clear thinking people, love to know where the money is going.

The problem with these misguided protests,, is that they don't address the massive issues afflicting indigenous communities. An aboriginal woman is 32% more likely to receive spousal abuse than a white woman. Rapes of young girls, one which evoked disgust two years ago of a two year old, alcohol abuse, petrol sniffing, drug use, crime, and the lack of a proper education, are all issues which these protesters should be up in arms about.

Yet, all they can carry on about, which is what typical Marxist, leftist, Socialists do, is about the date of Australia day. You could move it to December 25, where it would be swallowed up by the celebration of Xmas day, and they still wouldn't be happy.

All the protests are, is a distraction from the real issues which confront Indigenous Communities.

Price and Mundine understand that. They fight a losing battle to heard, in their attempts to make those in charge of handling the Billions of taxpayer dollars, accountable.

It is unfortunate, that there are so many misguided individuals out there who's only comeback to those who point out the real issues, is that they label you a racist.

Not a political forum i know but Bookie think you’re miles under with the 32% more likely.  I know they are 1800% more likely to present to an emergency room as a result of domestic violence.  But 100% agree with your sentiment.  But unfortunately you can’t talk about it or you are deemed a racist

    Yes, P1.

I reckon you are right, but that was a figure quoted on TV during the protests.

Being called a racist, because you genuinely would love to see our Indigenous population getting the right help and the money going where it needs to go does nothing to help the situation.

The left side of the political spectrum, preach social justice and helping others, and never do it.

    Biggest hypocrites on the planet.

Someone is making a poultice mate.

Not one of our Governments be they Libs or Labour, has had the guts to do an internal audit to find our how the money is being spent, using independent auditors.

Probably worried what they will find

Spoke to a cop a few years ago from up north. Anyway, was around Xmas time and some aboriginal foundation came up with the idea to give a $1000 gift card from coles group to all the aboriginal families in the area. To be fair, on face value it was a good and kind idea to ensure these families had a great xmas. Anyway, once these gift cards lobbed in the post the holders of the cards made a bee line for Liquorland. What ensued was 2 weeks of anarchy within the community. In linking this with some of the comments above, when the people in charge of these foundations dont acknowledge the drug and alcohol problems of the community, the government have no chance.

sounds like Port Hedland ..LOTS of ostrich's in these situations, head in the sand/too hard etc etc i'll say not much more because it's a sensitive topic but the problems are large in scale and sadly it's hard to imagine significant improvement any time in the foreseeable future.

The crux of the issue is what’s the end game!  Great to have your ideas and  they can be varied And some may work whilst others fail but what do you want to actually achieve.

I think the perfect world is the box to tick if you are aboriginal or Torres straight islander no longer exists because it's irrelevant.  Surely that’s the dream??

I hear they want equality but I doubt they want full equality? Particularly as has been mentioned some huge dollars are being made by keeping indigenous Australians as a seperate Group which only serves the tiny proportion up the top

I've seen something very similar to this when working up in Broome casually when on long service 9 years ago. I had no idea until being up that way and seeing a few things first hand.

And @bookielover you hit the nail on the head with your first post above.

It all starts with raising kids in an environment that is happy and healthy. Good role models are required.
The money should be thrown at indigenous role models to foster as many at risk kids as possible.
