3100m of raw grit in the South West today for an all expenses paid trip to the Bool to get your ass handed to you :))

Not a bad card, Pikey makes the trip to ride Final Chill but Material Witness looks awfully hard to beat too.

I thought Queen takes King would come up fav for the race. Would be convenient for Lindsay Smith if they won!

3100m is a real ask for our "stayers" as we are predominately a sprinters state. is it because our breeders have the right ears?
our sat. programmes  rarely have a 2000/2200 or God forbid a 2400m...ok they threw one in as a pipe-opener for this marathon. we just do not cater for middle distance horses. if you look at the eastern states saturday programmes there is always at least 1, maybe 2 races in the 2200/2400m bracket. Vic. had a 2800m yesterday...
there will be a lot of tired horses after todays race...59kg is a big ask for the fav. even with the pike factor. i think the bottom weight has chance, i'll have a few bob on at 33's....

show how good our "stayers" are....but good on the old fella leading most of the way. rising 11yrs makes us wonder if he'll make the trek to the 'bool. i think he loves the mud so that might lure him over.

espresso martinis? aren't they the go to "w*nk" drinks? i reckoned they'd be swan drinkers and the gals a nice cab. sav.....

Was always the risk Chelsea, tear away leader breaking the field up was going to be it’s undoing

not really hash, i think more the 59kg over 3100m and as i have harped on before...we have no stayers as they are not provided for.
the belmont season looms, not so long ago..ok try about 20 yrs...they had a number of 2200m/2400m races culminating with the winter cup....i can remember a few, the edgar meeres cup (no, i have no idea who he is), the belmont cup and i think one more.
all gone....along with so many others eg the easter stakes on the sat and the easter cup on the monday, the diggers cup on the 25th regardless what day of the week, military bands, carnival atmosphere, don't talk to me about xmas!!
ok, i'll grab my soap box and disappear into the night..

36.5 last 600m over 3100 suggests he got a VERY soft lead.

Start before led over 2400 and finished in 39.5
