    - Craft beer - oh please! You want beer that tastes like strawberry's and mint, or honey and chilli.

The only craft beer that is any good is beer that tastes like beer ie Swan Draught.  $8 a pint or $7 a schooner, or $5 a middy. So just give us popular beers please.

    - Night racing - just give me an 8 race meeting from 1pm to 4.30pm  - with races at 1, then 1.30, then 2, then  2.30,then  3, then 3.30,then  4, then 4.30. Afterall, there is only approx 12 minutes of racing for a meeting.

    - Food trucks - just give us some decent food at reasonable prices. Steakburger $10,  F & C's $10, bain marie food $10.

Oh please? Get with the times old digger. These craft beer festivals aren't selling out for the food mate.

Agree with the compressed time schedule racing, that would be great. Especially for dreary Belmont winters.

    craft beer....the jury is out...

night racing...i spoke about this to a committee member ages ago. too expensive he said, lights etc. ok then install them, i said, and then have you ever heard of solar panels? fell on deaf ears..

food trucks...yes, only for the big days. imagine them there for well under 1000 attendees, average age 70? all who have had a "nice lunch" made by their Mrs. no? neither can i.

i agree with the above, all of them appeal to the masses. But the price points being charged by the race clubs need a massive readjustment. I paid $4.90 for a 390ml bottle of solo, im not hard up for cash but that has to be a joke.

You can have craft beers available but once the patrons work out how badly they are getting ripped off they will rethink the next drink and more than likely not return to the races again. An honest charge for an honest beer, thats all people want, just dont rip people off.

That will have to be the top of my list, stop ripping people off.

Better betting opportunities is what always got me to the races in the past. Massive advantage being on course back in the day.

I go every Saturday to the races so instead of what will get me to the races I will tell you WHY I GO to the races without fail each week

    a) Don't have to look at the wife
    b) Don't have to listen to the wife
    c) Don't have to argue with the wife

^^ that would be about right, spink, thats 9 bucks for 2 cut spuds sitting under heat lights for a few hours.
now, for our mate Lick. i am the collecting station for bottles and cans that go to the young Korean kid down the street. my next door neighbour is mad on these craft beers, must go thru about 6 six packs a week...i grabbed one can...just for you Lick..

if a weather app forecast the outlook on this beer it would say slightly cloudy with a downpour of juicy hops.

a luscious nectar showers your lips with a combination of candied orange, mango and passionfruit, followed with a refreshing breeze of bitterness beneath......
<:-P...want me to go any further?  :)) thought not.... >:)

Punters clubs, night racing, shorter breaks between races (nothing crazy, but 30 mins is ideal I reckon)

I heard of a good idea a while back that involved a raffle after each race. Each person that had a cash bet with the TAB (on course) would receive a little number at the bottom of the ticket, they would then do a random number generator to choose a winner of say $1000 or something of the like. I reckon this would generate turnover and encourage people to bet up with the TAB

Loyalty card after six meetings stamped Tab to issue 50 voucher. Also on course patrons should be privvy to any change of riding tactics which would be pinned up on designated board once all runners have left the mounting yard.
Always been a issue when to announce tactics changes to the general public.Due to other runners altering there race pattern. People on course should know.Especially when multiple runners are engaged.from one stable

Night racing has to feed into Hong Kong. Standalone it couldn't work surely....

But before all that Belmont has to be an entertainment hub in itself.

Give it to CROWN I say. They'll spruce it up. Bulldoze the joint and start from scratch. Someone has to do it,.might as well be the crown guys. They have the money and the incentive.

    Never happen unfortunately..

I'm sorry - but I still don't get the "craft beer" thing. Same as buying bottled water - one of the greatest waste of money ever. And don't get me started on umpires paying marks that go less than 15 metres - criminal. But then again, everything is amazing and awesome and absolutely.

Anyway, at least they now know there are 27 types of gender, and not just 2, whew!!

Oh, and climate change. I have just been for a flight up North and back - best of luck changing all that cubic space.

Characters, lively betting ring. But of a self fulfilling prophecy but if more people were going I would go more. Go for the atmosphere and a bit of people watching.

At the pub Alby and Single Fin mid strength are well down the list of beers I would select.
But strangely I drink them at the footy. I even have a few rounds of beers.
My choice of course, and I don’t stop at one.
I don’t go to the footy for a particular type of beer. I go for the entertainment.
    Same applies to the races.
  • thefalconthefalcon    19,949 posts
was in dan murphys yesterday and saw a wall of craft beers...one was over 9 bucks a can...most of the other hundred or so were around the 6 buck range...what bull*shite!! imagine how much they'd charge at the races... :-O
  • BucksBucks    158 posts
I agree with Chris, the selection of beers at the races is pretty poor given what you're able to get at other entertainment venues. Might have something to do with the sponsorship deal PR has got going.

I would like a kids creche/ play centre similar to the Ikea set up. That way you can drop the kids off and actually enjoy a beer and a bet rather than chasing after them every 5 seconds. My kids are 4 and 6 and get bored super quick so we don't bother taking them to the track as they lose interest.

A live band or any music for that matter between races would be good. Liven up the place a little. How many pubs, clubs, casinos have you walked into and there is no music playing? Zero.
