Belmont 21/7/21

West Australian Racing
R1- HOT TONIC makes her debut off the back of one trial but it was a solid effort. Jumped well, travelled sweetly behind the leader and wasn’t fully tested in the straight. Finished 3L behind the winner but there was a further 3L to third and it looked like she had more to give. 1000m looks the right trip to kick off her career and from four she should find a position somewhere in the first four. Gets in with no weight after the claim and she should appreciate that.

R2- Best Bet: GHOBELLA has been racing well this prep and deserves a win. Hit the line hard first up before chasing hard into third as a well tried favourite second up. Last start sat in the breeze and raced away in the straight only to be run down late by a couple of handy 3yos. Backs up which she has done successfully in the past and gets to 1700 which she may be looking for now. Drawn to get a soft run close to the speed and gets the same weight back to a class one after the claim.

R3- GALAXY CAT didn’t look to appreciate being crossed last start but was very impressive in the straight with some racing room. Thought she could lead on that occasion and looks like she can again here out to 1400. Had to dig deep to win last start and so the extra trip should be to her liking. Had been racing okay prior to the win and expect her to hold form and draw confidence from the win.

R4- KARIJINI AURORA has never seen class three grade in her life. Won a class one at start three and has raced in exclusively stronger since including last seasons Winter 3yo features. Three of her last four starts have been in 72+ grade with the only 66+ performance being a midfield finish only 3L off The Spruiker. Looks a class above her rivals and will struggle to find a better chance than this to bank another win.

R5- IRRITABLE RODNEE has always looked like he had some talent. Showed that first up when working to the breeze over 1400 and running away from them late. Had two trials before the first up run, a quiet one and a second trial where he hit the line hard. Should be better for the run and looks like finding the fence here. If he can start getting through his gears early he’ll be hard to get past.

R6- MISS VASARI has been very impressive at three starts to date. Won really well on debut before being beaten by a couple of smart 3yos. Was steered into the worst part of the track second up when only grabbed late by Standout Rose and last start sat last off a crawl and was unable to make an impression on Iseered Iseered. Resumes with blinkers on and a couple of quiet trials under her belt. Looks like she’ll be winning better races than this.

R7- DIABLERIE continues to consistently perform. Won a 0MWLY race last campaign with 59.5kg and gets into the same grade now with 1kg less. That’s Kind treatment from the handicapper considering he was very competitive in multiple 72+ races since that win and placed in the Mount Barker Sprint. Was really impressive fresh in 72+ grade when getting right out of his ground and attacking the line. Looks capable of sitting closer here and looks to have a few wins left in him.
