Bit quiet in here lately but the good.NO the real good ones are.coming back baby as of this Saturday!

Verry Elleegant, Collette, Laws Of Indices and Espiona(a potential superstar in waiting)in Sydney just to name a few.Hope the track will be ok is a soft 7 atm and mild temps, yet we can't race here half the time because we're slow boiling in the extreme heat.

At Caulfield I'm Thunderstruck, Behemoth and another with big potential Sinawann all resume In the CF Orr stakes.

Can't wait to see some of the big features this autumn, VE may not win first up but she will be right in the finish, team Waller setting her for the main targets of the ASM at Flemington mid March which will suit her well obviously and the QE11 at Randwick.

Was around 30 degrees and sunny yesterday, with 32 and sunny coming today. However there will be thunderstorms tonight and 6-10mm tomorrow. Reckon a Soft 5 will be your starting point.

Team Hawkes seem to be firing atm, after one of their 2yo colts won last week Wayne was cagey but bullish asf at the same time I.e they have at least one better.

When I saw Semillion nommed for the BD prelude on Monday night I immediately thought this is probably the one, could be wrong but he has jumped out very well twice this prep and the flying Jye McNeil steers.
Can roll the drifting fav with even luck.

Same stable and having just watched the Valley replays put their 3yo colt Mars Mission in the black book.Strolled in and looks not just Saturday class but maybe a group level horse, R7 it ran in have a squizz.

    Great minds think alike TS.
Heard Hawkes on the radio today. Heard him say he has a couple tucked away in his post race interview last week.
Watched the replay of Semillion ( both trial and the Valley)and to the eye the valley win looked better than Counttheheadlights which they are talking up today.
Will watch the betting closer to jump.
One of my favourite horses is racing today. Sword of Mercy.
Races well fresh. Goes well at Caulfield. Lane on top.
$12.00. Reckon he is a good roughy.

On the drift significantly which is often not a great sign...

Well it paid ok the drum and comfortably beat the other fancies home but I doubt that horse is a serious beast unless there is significant improvement to come(pretty unlikely imo)?

Not a bad run and it is not its grand final so wouldn’t discount it on that.
Has pace so has that in its arsenal.
Wouldn’t discount the 4th horse either extra 100m will suit and did get held up momentarily cause it wouldn’t go straight.
Got my place bonus money back but my quaddie is done.

Won't dismiss her but Espiona was a shade disappointing I thought(and beaten by the fn stablemate wattasurprise not)
Also..great jock he is but if you followed JMAC religiously you would do a lot of cash!!

Agree was super, fastest last 600, 400 & 200.  But Bob was quoted as saying next start Blamey which is a golden ticket into the All Star Mile so no Australian cup

Great race the Hobartville, not as ideal to be inside really but Pikey rode the runner up a treat too.

Tiempe Passate is a great chance today in race 5 @ Kembla. Absolute moral beaten last start. Watch the replay and you'll want to be on today at around $4 ;)

Im on bull. Even had a nibble at $100/1 for the oaks. She looks a stayer with a turn of foot on the replays.

120mm of rain in Sydney yesterday (around Randwick at least). Staurday could be a great day to be a bookie

Correct, I'm in Sydney Falcon. This rain isn't going anywhere

On Tuesday Marrickville Golf Club received 102mm of rain in one hour (fortunately I'm up the hill in Enmore). I had to laugh at this from the Sydney Morning Herald when they interviewed the club GM:

"Ms Vernon and other club members were trapped in the clubhouse at the height of the downpour in the early afternoon, but said they had local beers to keep them going"

    Not all bad I suppose

Happy days indeed with beers laid on.

Haven't given much thought to Sydney due to the weather mentioned..imagine if Perth with our excellent drainage systems got Sydney rainfall..we could possibly drown for real....

Caulfield there are no such problems and cracking fields, plus about a "1000" blackbookers or horses I love are running what could go wrong?

Starts off with a cracker of an opening race I was rapt in Mars Mission who goes to that bigger test quickly, he has two good ones to beat however.
I don't recall why Hayes and co lost Finance Tycoon was it because Dabernig was leaving? imo they were hard done by and he hasn't been as good yet with O'brien, on Saturday though if the real FT turns up he wins looks a beauty to kick off the card.

My semi maddie is in the Oakleigh Plate which to to me is not always a true Group 1 horses race these days.
I reckon General Beau for the kid Matty Cartwright can run a cracker, even though he has a feather weight I hope he gets instructions to stalk midfield or so(and I think with the high speed in the race they will), he can then launch late as they gas out up front.

Randwick has handled the deluge so far. 190mm for the week and currently heavy 9

Our horse Semillion in the Blue Diamond TS.
Drawn the car park. Very juicy odds.
    Your thoughts comrade ??

Still have not delved deep into that race Det, you? Carpark not always an issue in the race if they go back a bit, he raced forward last time so that may be a worry? I reckon be conservative early is their best chance.
What about the stablemate or are you thinking the old longer priced one nuts the fancied one?
Got a little hunch the fairytale guy and imo quite underrated Jamie Mott could salute.Other one is Snowden's filly who is improving, wish i had of got the memo "this is our Blue Diamond filly cocko" lol
Likely going to back two probably not close to my favourite race on the card however.

The Futurity have you got a fancy out of the top 3? For me I'm Thunderstruck, something will keep Tofane honest.
Mo'unga is proving to be just a length off the very top ones but fresh he will be right in it, some are saying IT at 1400 again is a query if so then Mo could be the spoiler.

So much for the fairytale stewards ordered Lofty Strike be scratched, i had settled on him too..
Jacquinot for me Det, hopefully I'm winning at this stage of the day not terribly confident, as we saw missed the kick badly last time and Lane is on, though the wider draw is good.
Plus is into 4.40 post scratching...
Might have a spec bet mainly the place on "our" Semillion too mate.
  • ThunderstruckThunderstruck    7,696 posts
Scorched Earth R7 tonight looks a Saturday bet funder.

And in a open looking F & M staying race 6 I'm prepared to have small spec's on 2 at $15 or better.
Nerve Not Verve goes ok, prepared to forgive the flat run last time she is 2/4 at the track I was on for the place only 2 starts back when a close up 2nd at big odds at Flemington is nearly due a win..
The other one also goes ok but may need one more run, Perennial.
It's the Valley and lower grade racing, anything can happen so i think one of these two mares can get a great run and maybe cause a boilover.
