There is no EPL forum - thus i will mention it here -

One thing i like ( but the usual crew will come on and rubbish it ) is the relegation/promotion system - so each year 3 go down and 3 come up - and it is worth obviously millions of pounds to stay up

But Leeds United - who 20 years ago i barracked for avidly simply  because the 2 Aust gun players Harry Kewell and Mark Viduka were playing for them - and i can remember 1 game Viduka scored 4 goals against Liverpool - thats how good he was as a striker

But back then Leeds were a high flying club - but then went broke - and have spent 15 odd years in the rung below - the English Championship league - then finally got promoted to EPL3 years ago  - struggled but stayed up

This season has just got worse and worse getting flogged 5-1 and 6-1 at home -and they have sacked a few managers - and they are only out of the relegation zone on goal difference

And another one got the aarse today - Spanish bloke - but this is what i like - their 34 games into a 38 games season - and today they have appointed 68 year old Englishmen - Sam Allardyce - a real journeyman Manager/coach - been involved with 13 different clubs

So Big Sam has got 4 games to save Leeds and keep them up - and they are absolutely brutal games Man City ( top )- Newcastle (3rd)- Tottenham(6th)

Spink in the early 90's i owned a successful business that we had franchised to a few stores..In its infancy, but that profile got us into a lot of gigs with West Coast in the early days of Malthouse. We were being chaperoned as a potential sponsor...

I think it was in 92 before the season got going... An in casual conversation he said, the only thing that is going to stop us dominating for decades is if they get a second team in here!!!! So even way back then, they were planning on how to lessen the impact of WCE..An it worked. Freo still struggling to be a significant influence after close to 30 years.

A third team in the next 24 months could hold the eagles down, so that there are 3 sides struggling over here. Not good for WA footy, but great for Victorian teams in particular.

Funny game of politics messing up the national game..but has been going on for at least 35 years

One of my supposed friends obviously an Eagles supporter sent me this:

"One retired player and one current AFL Player both full forwards had their houses burgled last night . In the robbery former West Coast player Josh Kennedy lost:
    • 8 West Coast Goalkicker medals
    • 3 Glendinning Allen medals
    • An AFL Premiership Medal
    • 3 All Australian Medals
    • 2 Coleman Medals
    • A John Worsfold Runner Up Medal
    • A West Coast Life Membership Medal\
At the same time Dockers full foward Matt Taberner lost a toaster and a kettle.

9 mins to go in the game. Richmond up by 35 points. Game over. Allen on sidelines getting his left knee heavily strapped and they send him back out there ????  [-X

Now they are booing Buddy, one of the greatest players we will ever see.
Great to see Collingwood come out and tell their supporters to pull their heads in.
All clubs should do the same.

Imagine opposition ruckman playing the Cardies back in the day. What a job they would have have when Polly was resting you only had to beat Bill Dempsey at the ruck contest . What a combination those two legends of the game must have been.

Looks like the picture was from the old Perth Oval (Home of the East Perth Royals) before it was sadly turned into a soccer/rugby ground.

As a devout Bulldogs supporter i was only sad to see they didn't blow up the grandstand, the gates and every other building...hahahaha

As a young teenage supporter it was about the only ground i was hesitant to go to!!

Cmon Rio Surely there were a  few hesitations about venturing into the Eastern suburbs of Bassendean. Its alright  you can tell us

Probably too far for RIO to travel to Bassendean Oval. As an old Basso boy I can assure you we welcomed all opposition supporters.

Certain umpires were never that welcome.

I never felt welcome at Basso Chariots. As a 12 year old, I had a belt with a "179" Holden badge on the buckle...a couple of bombo valley thugs made me hand it over. Next time I went I took the older cousins with me!!!

I only went to Swan Districts home ground once - i think it was 86 - the year Subiaco made the GF - no problem their at Bassendean Oval - Subi won by about 3 goals - important game to lock up 2nd spot i think - Peter Featherby  was still playing for Subi

But  all Subiaco supporters  that day well we all felt 10 ft tall leaving the ground - because we exited walking alongside Donny Martin ( the bookie )  And Donny he would have taken on any SD supporter - in fact every SD supporter one by one - and how stirred up he was - i reckon he could have floored the lot of them

Other suburban grounds i went to - well Claremont  Oval i  thought was the local tip - a dump - for such an affluent area - there was talk for years of them doing it up - but when i was following the WAFL - nothing eventuated in that regard

By far the best and most enjoyable suburban ground i went to was East Frem Oval - it was in a nice tree lined street - with nice houses around - and i believe they are redevoloping the ground at the moment - so it will be interesting the end product . But on that outer side hff - it was a grass elevated hill/bank - so you could bring a fold up chair - and it was a great spot to view the football - because it was elevated- and with that winter sun

I grew up in York, so from a very early age the Basso Bogans v The Bulldogs were the only games i went to!!! So I suppose from a very early age i always felt safe there. An as the years went by i always found it a good spot for a lot of friendly banter.

I worked with Wally Sidebottom, so that connection bought me a lot of freedom down there as a teenager. Great area to live and  work in. Moved there with my young family in the mid 80's by choice!!!! Not too many could claim to have done that without a court order!!! haha

Nup East Perth's Oval and the derby where the only times you could nearly guarantee you'd use you hanky by the end of the game....haha..

Hard, but fun times.....A world away from the world we live in today

A decade before that he was entrenched in the Midland Workshops..

Total legend in the area. First time i shook his hand was the first time i'd had someone shake my elbow!!!! His hands were massive!!!

Gary was doing his thing for the Saints and i think Allan was carving everyone up, playing centre halt forward for the Swanies...

David Mundy 6PR tonight suggesting WCE rebuild hasn’t even begun yet.
Finally someone saying it how it is.
No transition, no Gibney 4 kicks best on ground pulling them out of the shit, they are in a world of pain and it’s only going to get worse.

I think this weekend will be the defining test for where we are at.

If they get thrashed by Hawks, then the new kids aren't able to do the job for them - Probably too few, trying to do too much. If they are within 4 or 5 goals....or give us eagles fans a heart attack and win..Then that is where they are at.

We gotta be competitive with the teams around us on the ladder..For the Eagles at the moment that is Hawks and North...If we cant then the older players in the team aren't having any impact and a proper cleanout will need to happen so that we can get new players in.. Hunt has done his job for them, and they will need to get a few new experienced players in that type of bracket to have an impact and support the younger players.

So i'm sticking to my 4 maybe 6 wins this season, and for me thats totaly acceptable....BY 3pm Sunday, my analysis may need a re think...Or in my opinion we'll be tracking as we should be.

The most important thing to remember in a 2 team town, is that the eagles are looking to do their second major rebuild...Whereas our cross town rivals are still looking at doing their first build!!!!.

I know which team I am very happy to follow

3 almost full page pics of fyfe in the paper this morning. nicnat has the sulks..

a not so proud fact for the eagles..never before in afl history has a team had the same quarter-time score for 5 consecutive weeks...2.3 (15pts). nearly 6 with 2.2 (14pts) against melbourne in round 4.
    what price that happening? 500/1?

Stumbled accross this - but i think it is worth a mention - and  its got a link to Frem   highest individual award given

Sept 10 1932 - a WANFL B grade match between Midland- Guildford and Clarement- Cottesloe

Neither team could make the finals - it was a high scoring shoot out - 48 goals kicked - only 4 goal scorers

Midland-Guildford - fed the ball to their full forward  McGlashan who scored 28 out of the 29 goals

Claremont- Cottesloe -  full forward Doherty kicked 18 of his teams 19 goals

McGlashan was leading goalscorer for a week - East Fremantle had 1 more game to play the final week and their full forward scored 20 of his teams 22 goals to finish 7 more than McGlashan

Name of the East Fremantle full forward - George Doig

I miss those days of the glamour Full Forwards kicking bags (10+) of goals and regularly kicking a century a season.

This is the sort of history that the Dockers should've been tapping into from the start.

An maybe its not too late..They got to be more than just an AFL team. The Eagles will always be the first AFL team in WA. The first WA winner of an AFL game..The First WA team into the finals. The first WA team to win a Premiership......So build some heritage with the 2 Fremantle clubs and celebrate all the good of both clubs..

Focus on a winning culture and hopefully help the club look like a more succesful club.

What an absolute crock of ****.

Well after 30 years they still have nothing to celebrate..Whereas they could've been celebrating the rich Fremantle history for all that time. Would've been a lot better than focusing on being better than West Coast, cos that aint worked too well has it!!!!!????

Classic example is my brother..Member from season one, and is still a member now....Hasn't been to a game this year and has said hes jut given up, as the club keeps on finding ways to not be successful, an they'll never equal the Eagles success, let alone be better..An that is all that the club and fans have focused on for so many years!!!

A club that is so pathetic, so apathetic, so vindictive and has built their club on under- performing; that their supporters have latched onto the attitude so much, that they would be lost if the club ever jags a premiership!! hahahahaha
