I reckon DeGoey hit on that young Eagle - was nearly as bad as L Mathews brutal hit on Barry Cable in that state game

DeGoey didnt use the forearm - but it was a severe hit  to the Eagles players head and deserves a lengthy penalty 4-6 weeks - and it was a weak response by the other Eagles players - embarassing actually

One thing which is pathetic and noticeable re the TV coverage of Eagles/Freo home games - Adam Papalia at the game calls it - all good no problem - but the special comments - Lyon/Dunstall/Brown they are sitting in a Melb studio - they are not on the edge of their seats at the ground - and it is so noticeable - re their commentary

Just my opinion - but i think Kerry Packer re TV coverage of sports - was better than Kerry Stokes re sports they have paid the rights to . With Packer he didnt take  the attitude - oh their ex players so theve got that commentary job - Packer sacked from the commentary - Keith Stackpole and Frank Tyson - didnt think they were good enough so he got rid of them - Packer had his hands all over that sports coverage - where as i dont think Stokes has

i'm sick of bloody hearing, reading and seeing about nicnat. but i think i read the club are sending him to another specialist..probably in germany.
when will he..and the club realise that its the end of illustrious career and let him concentrate on marketing or whatever he wants to do.

Watched the 2018 GF Liam Ryan shirt-front on Maynard last night. Couldn't see too many remonstrating with Ryan....in fact ZERO. :-B

As much as I'm on your side Deto, the man needs to let go and enjoy a relatively healthy life with his family. He's done as much as anyone to give the club a premiership. And encouraged a massive fan base to support the eagles.

Time to head off to the paddock permanently. Along with Shuey and unfortunately Hurn. 3 champions who have given their all.

The Dockers inability to adjust to wet weather football came to the fore again. The small forwards Banfield, Sturt, Fredericks, Switkowski and Schulze averaged 8 possesions with only 2 goals, the same number Walters amassed in one and a half quarters

Their wet weather record is abysmal.

I love Thursday night footy but this game is shite.
Just worked out Fagan needs to go.

2nd on the leaderboard for call of the year.

Shit that Nic Martin’s a good player.
    Where’d he come from ??

Only the 4th highest rated player in the AFL for 2023 and a lock for one wing spot in the AA and you’ve just found him.
Not surprising though, your avatar is ‘freodockers’ after all…

and you didnt mention that he trained with the Weagles and was overlooked in the draft. Remember clearly him kicking a goal against the Weagles and grabbing the Dons jumper.

    just another monumental fail

Two more observations from the AFL round so far:
    1. I am over boundary umpires that do not have the strength to throw the ball in far enough to enable ruckmen an adequate chance to compete one on one. At present there is a late sprint to reach the fall of the ball for the contest. No wonder they have chosen boundary umpiring rather than playing football.
    2. I must have masochistic tendencies to pick Carlton against any team other than the Eagles at present. Having said that they are probably now good things to beat the Dockers when they meet.

Not a good sign for the West Coast rebuild that the State 18's got absolutely flogged by the Allies on the weekend.
Just what will "PSA" McArdle find to write about this week?....very few "midfield bulls", "running machines", "super boots", "hulking forwards" or "tackling machines" on display yesterday, with or without Hale or Wesley or Aquinas heritage.
Tip is the Eagles trade the number 1 pick for two top 10 picks and look east, hoping there is not an outbreak of homesickness.
This of course pre supposes that the about to be cash strapped (once its stadium compensation payment disappears) WAFC actually doesn't financially implode. With total income about to fall from 31 million to about 20 million, regardless of reduced dividends from the broken West Coast, and with only lost seagulls, friends and relations attending a truly dreadful WAFL comp that has really benefited(?) from expanding out to 10 teams, some of the dozens and dozens of bureaucrats at the WAFC should start composing letters to the editor supporting the unemployed. They may be about to join them.
Clearly, the solution is to apply large  levy's and up the affiliation fee for all country leagues and clubs... perhaps each club could run a weekly wood raffle to support the WAFC coffers.

Of real concern was that the U18s team easily defeated Swan Districts top of the ladder reserves team in a scratch match before going to Adelaide.

Unsure why you think I care about the Eagles, but yep, they shat the bed when they left him on the table.

Re Nic Martin - one of the reasons i backed Ess in the pre season to make the 8 - yes i have crunched the odds so i win alot less if they now do make the 8

However i read in the preseason - there is some fitness guru - i think WA based - got AFLfootballers - rugby players - boxers - alot of different sports - and he gets them super fit

And at the pre season that bloke said - of all the people ive got on the  books - Nic Martin is the pick of them - he is in sensational condition - thats what he said

And last year in Martins 1st game of the season - Ess got flogged by Geel - but Martin kicled 5 goals and got Peter Featherby number wise possessions

So hes got ability - and he is  now super fit - so no surprise that he is playing really well

As you would be aware Chariots that was more like the Swans Reserves Reserves side with the team made up of a number of boys who have missed selection in the Reserves all year, topped up with a few of our Colts (who are equal bottom) with only a few senior players in the side that day!
Will be interesting to see where the Allies are placed in the scheme of things in this 18s Carnival but a shocking result for WA regardless unfortunately.

Pickett is in a fair bit of hot water

Very serious charges - nothing has been prooved yet tho - but the Magistrate did say - Pickett would likely face prison time if found guilty

The only VFL/AFL footballer i can think of - who was sent to jail during a football season - was John Nicholls - a hall of fame ruckman for Carlton - coached the Blues to a flag as well

    This is what Wiki said

While playing for Carlton - John Nicholls served a 3 mth jail term at Pentridge prison in 1960 having been found guilty of embezzling 5,558 Pound ( that would buy you a nice house back then ) from the Collins St branch of the ES and A  bank . He was sentenced to 12 mths imprisonment - parolled after 3 mths - he missed the 1st 11 games of the 1960 season - returning to play against Richmond on 16/7/1960

Staggered he was allowed to play.
They wanted to give Degoey weeks for a video, this bloke planned and stole 3-400.0k but play your game of footy first then we’ll arrest you.
    Go figure.
