Just seen a message on Perth Racing Facebook page inviting me to Ted Van Heemst Day ? I thought he just had a race named after him, now it's going to be the whole day  :))

    i'd not go to any meeting bearing his name. a blot on WA racing.
    bring back the Cox Stakes...bet if you took a vote Cox would win hands down.

    I'm not knocking him at all, just stating fact. Was he a good administrator ? I don't know and have little care. I'm a punter if not for the punt I wouldnt be on here, I'm way too old be rubbishing anyone on social media

    There would be no narrative. None at all.
    If the muppets just made up a race for him, which I think he deserved for his time on the WATC. But, they should never have renamed a time-honoured race after him and replacing the CB Cox stakes.
    It was Fuckennn disgusting at the time.

    And still is today.

    Just back The Velvet Queen, best bet i have saw in a long time no big field to circle around just has to gather this few ponies up a cake walk! I'll see my self off to bed good night!

    Someone should write a book about the players with a distinct lack of character that have graced the WATC (Perth Racing) Board of Directors with the odd CEO thrown in.

    Hollywood would laugh at the script as being too beyond believable.

    Dodgy land deals, sex offenders, fraud and straight out sheer incompetence only scratches the surface.

    Then there is Ted. Forever now with his name etched into immortality with a black type race being renamed after him and his time in office. So many legal actions, I genuinely laughed at Perth, Scotland thinking that just because they predated WA that they could have a right to the name Perth Racing, even though it was used before it was in WA.  How about dropping $1.4M on an outside broadcast van to bring in the big bucks of Singapore, LOL.

    His crowning achievement surely will be the Belmont redevelopment. 10 years ago after giving the State Govt the heave ho when they wanted to gift WA Racing the next century debt free and build a tri complex down the Kwinana Freeway for nothing with some cash thrown in, Ted went with the hail mary three pointer and the rivers of gold promised by an International developer.

    So how is that going today, ten years on ?

    **** it, let's just name a race after him and celebrate every year the decades of prosperity he brought to our much loved Industry.

    As I'm here in Canberra and only a heartbeat from the PM, I'm going to try and get him into the Australia Day honours. He deserves it.

    You can all thank me later when Charles says ......... arise Sir Ted.

    Whoever did the form for Rachel King today should be shot.

    Kicking through trying to lead on Lord Gannicus in a race full of speed and then dishing it up to Marachino when the horse was never going to have the early dpeed to cross him a week out fro. The Perth Cup.

    Long flight home as they say.

    Most disgusting insult to WA racing. The guy was a disaster for Perth Racing Club and for the entire industry

    I can’t recall one positive that was successfully implemented while he was steering the ship ….. without being bailed out by RWWA. A that took Millions away from WA Racing in its totality.

    I rarely go to the track now. But this is one meeting I’d never go to.

    The narrative needs to be repeated and repeated, so the crap that went on will never happens again.

    Who honestly cares? What exactly would you like to change so badly about the industry? Because i guarantee you someone who volunteered their time for 19 years can take a bit of credit for what it looks like today.
    I dont know the guy but I've used his stallions. Yes remember those? The many stallions he's brought to WA. (Thats not an invitation to bag out the stallions either). People just keep going after these giants who are likely the only reason we even have an industry in WA at all.

    Jump on the bashing bandwagon if you truely feel its your moral duty to fight a fight against someone who likely isn’t even on here to defend themselves.. Some of us are grateful for the big players.
