Durrant stable today to the halcyon bob peters era

West Australian Racing
What has happened to the all conquering durrant stable these days. The wheels have completely fell off since the bob peters hey days. Struggling to train winners these days and the quality of horse is really average. When a stable like this was has to take horses to Geraldton Narrogin average form going out favourite and running legless with dream runs must be an embarrassment to them .All the stables that trained for the mighty bob peters and had worldwide recognition like durrant ,Williams ect you hardly hear of them any more. Didn’t know when they where on a good thing getting looked after by uncle bob. Those days will never come back. smart girl Donna Reardon moved in to vacated slot and doing a good job. Well done Donna.

Grant and Alana Williams are on top of the traing premiership, double the amount of winners of the second stable.....

Durrant not going at anywhere near his best but still on track for possible 100 winners.

    Good chat though.

And maybe both saw the quality of the stock coming through and didnt think it was worth the aggravation. The stock coming through hardly setting the world on fire.

He's got a lot of young horses on their way up. I think those style of horses take time. He's basically starting his roster from scratch.

Adam goes to Gero etc to get horses to win, like any good trainer should.

Not quite as excited as some as I was on Stormy Tawny @$7 whom looked all over a winner ffs but the first time poster clearly has a personal gripe/agenda which didn't take long to get dispelled.

Looks like Twiggy dislikes fact when presented with them aka Gilgas post above. Not only that he even likes his own post. One thing I have learnt since being on here Twig is most people here have some idea and see through your first st post. But don’t let it put you off posting more. That’s what this forum is about some good posts some not so good you be the judge of which category yours falls into

It’s all about stock… if you don’t have quality, you won’t win enough races. That situation is cyclical. I’m sure he’ll be back up the top soon enough

Durrant was training horses that won picket fences long before he teamed up with the car salesman and he also had runners at Narrogin during his near 30% strike rate days.

Not sure some of the experts on here would know like slippergolden I’m not one for stats but the durrant stables runners to percent figures  today compared to the car salesman era as slippergolden puts it can’t be in the same ballpark. The point I was trying to make is the durrant stable are rigid in purchase of yearlings no purchase of certain stallions as sires mare bloodlines that don’t suite there criteria even though they are from 100% winning families ect. You would think that there purchases after going through such a rigorous selection process when broken in trialled trained  up and the durrant polish put on would be able to win a weak Narrogin maiden or class 1 race. I know not all horses make the grade but a top multiple times leading trainer sending bad horses around does no justice to there reputation. Any bad ones the car salesman had where not around too long. Where usually sold off at dispersal sales and moved on.

Fairly transparent comment that is largely inaccurate.

Fortunes change fairly quickly in relative terms in Racing, Bob Peters is no exception but where Bob separates himself from most others is he has enjoyed incredible longevity.

Having stepped away from purchasing yearlings several years ago now and living interstate, I have only a passing interest in what happens in WA. Quite a few players have hit the wall.

Where this clown making these comments has completely misunderstood WA Racing, is that Grant & Alana are blocks in front of anyone else in stock selection and training.

    Bob knows that as well.

Bob has the most well bred horses in WA but i think all the people that have given him the flick over the years its clear its a Bob problem.
