Harness & Greyhounds
Just 1 im quite keen on Race 8 , Mares race number  7 Shes A Mare E/W @ $12

Liked its run 2 starts back at Northam , the Relatively Arma formline i think is sound , it broke 2 minutes and it didnt have a cosy pegs run 

And her trainer Lang Inwood i think he does a good job with the quality of the horses he gets ,he would have plenty in work  they race consistent and he consistently trains regular winners

    Combine no fine for the salute (i would be more than happy with an official warning) and the cases recently of a number of horse indiscretions during races that go not only unpunished but unseen the stewards in WA care ZERO for the harness racing industry and their flagrant DGAF attitude will lead to someone getting seriously hurt or heaven forbid worse.

    I liked the run of Rocknroll Elliot the other day but he broke under pressure late.

    SD6 1 trial.

    Goes around in trials and is asked to do absolutely nothing, yep thats satisfactory back to the races you come.

    Why bother sending it back to trials if you are going to deem that as satasfactory, should atleast have to be asked for an effort at some stage otherwise just give it a warning after the race mishap and move on

    I think the fair and reasonable thing with Vance salute is do what they do at times over East , a small fine but say suspended for 12 mths , so if he doesnt do a repeat of that in the next 12mths he doesnt have to pay the fine 

    Where the WA Trotting penalties are very light in my opinion , are prohibited substance breaches , a few years back  a WA Trots trainer got 12 mths for Cobalt , and i posted twice that he was damm lucky he wasnt based in NSW , because he would have got at least double that penalty , and the good old moderators  on this site deleted both my posts 

    Well in NSW this week Trots trainer Peter Tanti , 24 year involvement in Trotting , 2nd prohibited substance breach in that period being Cobalt over the threshold , and have guess what the penalty was - 3 years 9 months

    Why should we penalise celebrations? Harness racing is already maligned for being a dim sport, so why must we strive to eliminate any potential entertainment/drawcard of the industry?

    Hi On The Bridle.. Racing is not entertainment they bring bands for entertainment.. Better fields and competetive racing bring people..

    Racing is 100% entertainment, don't suck the fun out of industry by penalising the characters in the game for showing some level of emotion , getting crowds through the gates for all codes is already hard enough

    I'm sure most would not begrudge a celebration but IMHO there is a horse safety aspect.

    The rules state we must keep a rein in each hand at all times. The driver clearly crossed his reins into his left hand then wound his right arm in a big windmill fashion for many metres down the home straight and relinquished all mouth contact with the horse at the end of a race when a horse could conceivably be tired and needing a bit of rein contact for support.
    The second placed horse was wearing a shadow roll. It appears to get rather close to the windmilling arm. Lucky it didn't spook.

    The rein in each hand rule was created more so to stop drivers from placing the reins in one hand and applying the whip unnecessarily with the free hand rather than being a steering and safety issue

    That is all very true and correct re safety concerns

    But they are catchy names , back in the day was it Les Poyser who was known as The Rifleman , now weve got The Windmill Man - hah - hah - hah

    Hi Chop chop 43, If there was no betting there would be no one there..as it is hardly any one there now.. People dont go to races for entertainment,, maybe Iam wrong..

    Well call me old fashioned but I find racing entertaining or else I wouldn't be watching it , that's without even having a punt you'd find there would be plenty who enjoy it for the same reason, the characters in the industry keep it entertaining and a celebration like that gets a big thumbs up from me good on him for showing a bit of emotion

    If not entertainment, what is it to you? Solely a fiscal generation exercise? This mindset cannot cauterise the bleeding stance of the industry, let alone grow it. The demographic of harness racing is its shortcoming for sustainability. We need to constructively implement innovative solutions, and punctuating the characters and personalities - which is a leading factor many in the sport suggest is their “favourite” thing about the industry - is a genuine reason for encouraging interest.

    Have to agree. Racing survives off the losing punter. If it isn't at least entertaining for them then they are gone.

    Hi On the Bridle, Most people who are watching races probably did not notice the celebrating of  the win by saluting. I bet on the trots because its easier to do the form...and have been involved since the early 70s.. The different opinions on this forum is great entertainment for me..
    What entertainment do you think will encourage people??

    How about when drivers have a blue on the track, (I.e. race 2 last night Warwick vs Hall) when they come in they throw their helmets away and have a fist fight in the middle of the parade ring. Bit like the ice hockey in the USA.
