Aardiebytheseaside

Harness & Greyhounds
According to the GP Preview posted on the HRA Web page, Aardiebytheseaside now trained and driven by Jocelyn Young, including quotes from her about its recent trial?
Surely this will be news to the Bonds and Deni.

    Aardiebytheseaside set to make amends

Brilliant four-year-old Aardiebytheseaside, a shock failure when
ninth behind Steno last Friday week, is set to make amends for that
defeat by winning the $27,000 Follow @Skyracingau On Instagram Pace for
mares at Gloucester Park on Friday night.

“The plan will be to lead from barrier one, and hopefully to get the cash,” said trainer-driver Jocelyn Young.

After winning at her first seven starts in Western Australia, the New
Zealand-bred Aardiebytheseaside began from the outside barrier (No. 9)
on the front line last Friday week when she paced roughly and broke in
the mobile score-up before getting to the breeze after 600m and then
fading over the final stages top finish almost ten lengths behind Steno.

“That was the first time she had drawn a wide gate, and you have to
get up there a bit quicker than you do when down lower,” said Young.
“She just got too fierce and broke. It was probably a one-off, and her
two trials since then have been good.

“She did the whole trial at Pinjarra when I gave her a nice quiet
run. And then she did a successful jump out at Byford last Sunday.”

    Unquote.

Apology by Ken Casellas on Facebook:

Please excuse me and accept my apologies: I have had an extremely busy week --- and somehow I managed to write a preview piece in which I referred to Aardiebytheseaside being trained and driven by Jocelyn Young. My mind must have been in neutral when I wrote this late on Wednesday night. I write about 6000 words a week on GP previews and reviews. However, there is no real excuse for making such a dopey error. Perhaps I should slow down a fraction.

I never posted the Aardiebytheseaside "mistake" to have a go at Ken, far from it, I think the world of him and his work over decades and decades. An absolute icon across many fields.

But I did post it to highlight the rank  hypocrisy of some on here who seem to take enormous delight in "Ernie" bashing, accusing him of "quoting" trainer drivers when he had not actually spoken to them and of many other sins like reporting on drug cheats and disqualifications etc etc.

Here we have one of the best in the business who made an error "quoting" a trainer driver or whatever, when it didn't happen. But no outrage from the bleachers. The flak that Ernie copped over Cyclone Jordy when he was directly quoting a trainer, and over having quoted Stuart McDonald (from a direct Television track feed) was unwarranted and any support offered was then used to trigger accusations of "old blokes" banding together which was both ageist and offensive.

I also happen to agree most strongly that the integrity issues that Ernie highlights should without doubt be reported on, for without integrity and confidence for the betting public, we have nothing.

That’s a pisstake post there jay jay and you know it,the only issue alot of the industry have and I mean a lot. Ask around some top trainers and drivers their opinions is that every article starts or finishes with negativity towards the industry or brings up an offence about a participant from years ago.Ive never met Ernie so its nothing personnel just my opinion and yes he does write some good articles it’s not always doom and gloom.
Your a great contributor in this forum but again your mates with the bloke so no issue with you sticking up for him,you take offence to old blokes comments well I don’t think labelling opinions as dog whistlers is fair assessment either.

No pisstake, just factual. Clearly, you don't understand how the sports department works. A list of topics/talking points  on issues/stories that have emerged are forwarded by the journo  to the Sports editor for consideration...maybe 8 or 10 along with some background notes. Journo is then advised what to progress to a full article for publication. Usually, the best headline grabber. If not enough info or no photo on file, expand the article and find a photo source. It is a "negotiated outcome" where the Sports editor has final say. Nothing unusual about that.

Now, you say the top trainers/drivers say that EVERY article starts or finishes with negativity? That is clearly NOT the case, and you then contradict them immediately ...."Yes, he does write some good articles it's not always doom and gloom".

Can we assume that  you believe instances of cheating, suspension, fines for rule transgressions, disqualification et al should not be published, that the public should not be informed of such transgressions? An interesting take on integrity if that is the case.

Finally, don't patronise me with the "your a great contributor" blah blah and "your mates with Ernie" line. I don't need or seek your approval to have an opinion contrary to others.I know Ernie to talk to and correspond with but the "mates" lines is simply untrue. And as far as "dog whistlers" are concerned I believe that some on here live in an alternative universe and place their own unique interpretations on reality. That's fine, let them exist in Wonderland looking at the flailing industry through their rose coloured glasses of continuing to do what is clearly failing, until that is, there is no industry to look at.

Yep ya got me,I added “not all doom and gloom stories” to soften my post, but do your own research and ask around the industry on this topic I’ll think you’ll find pretty quick alot share the same view,
As for my stance on cheats and rule breakers I agree it should be reported but then not flogged to death every time an article is written about that person for example Hayden reeves who every dealing I’ve had with him has been nothing but pleasant.
As for my integrity… pretty high I would have thought as you don’t get into my line of work without it.
We won’t agree on this topic obviously but different opinions make the world go round.

I have had the  Wed and Sat West Aust home delivered for about the last 7-8 years , and id suggest that 90%  of Ernies articles are positive about harness racing , ive enjoyed reading them , gives a great summary of Frid  nights action , which you wont get in any other metro paper in Aust

So based on the actual facts , i dont know where your getting your clap trap from

The quote did not happen, or the wrong person was attributed with the quote ?  These are two very different things
