No point, stewards never find anything in betting records.

Surely if he was trying to hook it he wouldn't have let it charge past them after the post, think he is just a terrible driver!

Give him three months, Might not have hooked it.

But still give him three months for stupidity surely. Drives like this need consequences.

Exactly, And everyone else pays a price. If you take the 4th horse who could not keep up it was only a 3 horse race. Some form of punishment needs to be handed out as a deterrent for Retards

I disagree with the consensus here - no charge to answer - they will throw it out in about 2 minutes

They came home in 57seconds( a 2 year old having its 1st start )  - 28.5 and 28.5 - if he had come wide - and if it had won it would have been a very narrow margin - often when they are running those times its best to folow the leader and hope for the split

If they had come in 59 or 60 seconds then it would be a completely different scenario - but they didnt

Thought he came unstuck being too cute for probably the right longer term reasons. Doesn't help those who backed his horse but a bit of mitigation involved. I once employed a jockey who lost a 1 horse race.....true story.

No problem here, spent that little bit extra time trying to work out the best option but begining on a green 1st starter the horse not knowing what was required of it when asked to go it hung -in when it was supposed to be going forward and just woke up near the line, then ran through the line, indicating it will be a lot better for the experience....may need a couple more runs? You never no what you got in your hands regarding what a first starter will do when the surpreme effort is asked regarding tractability, over the journey have seen the odd one pull up to a walk.
    Case dismissed.

Geez you blokes are a forgiving lot, I'm pretty sure if you had of put you're hard earned cash on that horse you might have a different opinion.

I doubt anything untoward has gone on here it just looked like an extremely bad drive. The 4th horse was gone half way down the back straight so it was effectively a 3 horse field. It is the only track in Victoria with no sprint lane maybe the bloke forgot that. Anyone who can excuse a driver for getting held up in a 3 horse field, on an odds on pop, is a very forgiving person....

He's sitting beautifully one out and one back. there was absolutely no reason to go to the inside as the horse in the death was still going o.k.
he's either an imbecile, or was dead as a maggot.

The Betfair records might shed some light, although it appears that they never do.

They've gone out slow and run home quick and he thinks there will be an opening on the inside with no sprint lane? He got the horse out eventually anyway and didn't it motor so I don't know how giving it a cute ride was of any benefit?

Wrong race 3 at swan hill the driver was the trainer laura crossland on the 1.55 pop....Not David Moran...../.

David Moran is a   very capable driver last 2,304 drives 358 wins 564 placegetters.. in the money every 2.49 drives  my take on him.

Dont think that's what @TRP meant...he was alluding to the fact the horse went around in race 3 at Swan Hill the other day and was rolled. Nothing to do with David Moran. It was the horse he was talking about not the driver. Correct TRP ?

Yes @Ridersonthestorm33 Capable or not, there's no way he'd retain the ride after the previous race. He got blamed for stopping an apparent certainty and it got beat next start anyway.

The horse is trained by moran's better half laura crossland. She probably cracked the sh!ts over his drive on it last start and sacked him.

That poor horse is having no luck in his first two starts. It went 3 seconds quicker at its 2nd start due to that muppet david jack over doing it in the breeze and going way to hard. Have a look at crossland after they cross the line. She looks around a couple of times trying to find jack and give him a spray. She eventually does, and it was well deserved.

As soon as that horse starts to get a bit of luck its going to string some wins together.....

Gee the winner wanted to get back to were it came from in a hurry...its was running like it  had seen a ghost.

Lochinvar hugo is in tonight at ballarat and has his 3rd different driver in as many starts.

This time it is the iceman gavin lang.

Maybe he can turn this horses fortunes around.

Not the best drive by lang tonight.

3 deep to the death is not easy for a 2 year old around ballarat when you have a $1.50 shot in front.

Especially when you consider it was driven for luck in a 4 horse field previously....

I see he got 5 weeks.
    A bit light or reasonable?

My thoughts are he was a bit lucky to only get 5 weeks. Would have thought 8 as a minimum would be the go...
