Just watching the news don't know one iota about Ariel skiing but surely the Aussie fellow who landed on his feet in the final had to beat the chinaman who came unstuck after he landed
They say if you havent got anything nice to say be quiet but i noticed in a post games interview that the Aussie team are seeking an increase in funding for their next crack..
16mil+ was blown..oops i mean spent achieving those 3 medals in S Korea.
I still remember when 50-over cricket was part of the '98 Commonwealth Games in Kuala Lumpur.
England didn't bother to send a team (due to the County cricket season still going on) and the West Indies team was split into the separate islands (i.e. Jamaica, Antigua and Barbuda, Barbados). The games weren't granted ODI status.
Australia ended up winning the silver medal, after chasing down NZ's paltry total of 58 in the semis, AUS (183) ended up losing to SA (6/184) in the final, Steve Waugh making 90*. New Zealand won the bronze medal playoff against Sri Lanka.
It was the same Games where ten-pin bowling was included for the one and only time.
Basketball is back in to this Comm games ? There’s a certain gold for Australia. Although Canada could give it a shake I guess, if sending a full strength team.
For the 2020 Summer Olympics, they've added Surfing, Sports Climbing, Skateboarding (Park and Street), Karate (Kata and Kumite) and re-instated Baseball and Softball. From the existing sports, they've added 3-on-3 basketball, madison cycling and freestyle BMX.
Pretty much. For the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, there's even a chance that eSports could be added, with a decision on its inclusion expected to be made by 2020.

You're probably right. According to the FIBA rankings, Australia and Canada will be the top two ranked teams in both the men's and women's.
MEN'S FIBA RANKINGS - COMMONWEALTH TEAMS 10 Australia 23 Canada 32 Nigeria 38 New Zealand NR England, Scotland (40 Great Britain) 62 India 65 Cameroon
WOMEN'S FIBA RANKINGS - COMMONWEALTH TEAMS 4 Australia 5 Canada NR England (21 Great Britain) 25 Mozambique 37 Jamaica 42 New Zealand 45 India 48 Malaysia
Point being we won’t have our NBA guys (but neither will Canada). A lot of Euro teams have more of their top players play at home (their leagues pay more than sitting on the bench NBA), but they’re not commonwealth countries. Then we win the Asian cup with just our NBL players - and that would be stronger than the Comm Games field. We should romp in both sexes...... yes.
It probably didn't get much coverage in the media, but on Monday, Para-snowboarder Simon Patmore won Australia's first Winter Paralympic Gold medal since Salt Lake City, 2002.
After 47/80 events, Australia currently in 11th place in the medal tally (1 gold, 2 bronzes). The two bronzes were won by vision-impaired alpine skier Melissa Perrine (and her guide Christian Geiger) in the giant slalom and in the super-combined (super-G & slalom).

And romp in they did. Boomers beat Canada by 40 (87-47), Opals beat England by 44 (99-55).
Overall, Australia beat Great Britain (England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland combined) 80 gold medals to 65. Not that I watched a minute of it...
