MAQ crossed the line 5th but was given a 30-second post-race penalty for taking ROS out, relegating him back to 18th.
CRU now leads the championship by 3 points.

Also, a third consecutive top-10 finish for Jack Miller, after starting 18th on the grid.

In regards to the most consecutive 500cc/MotoGPs wins at the same venue, Giacomo Agostini won 9 500cc races in a row at Imatra, Finland (1965-73), 8 500cc races in a row at Spa-Francorchamps, Belgium (1966-73) and 6 500cc races in a row at Sachsenring, Germany (1967-72). He also won 6 500cc races in a row in West Germany (1967-72), but they alternated each year between Hockenheim and Nurburgring.
Valentino Rossi won 7 MotoGPs in a row at Mugello, Italy (2002-08). Mick Doohan won 6 500cc races in a row at Mugello (1993-98). Casey Stoner won 6 MotoGPs in a row at Phillip Island (2007-12). Marc Marquez has now won all six MotoGPs at Austin (2013-18) and has won all five MotoGPs he has raced at the Sachsenring (2013-17).

If you include the last three MotoGPs from last year, that's now seven consecutive top-10s for Jack Miller.

Also, Dovizioso set a MotoGP record for the quickest top speed in practice, 356.5km/h. Petrucci set the race record, clocking 355.8km/h. In comparison, the unofficial F1 record is 372.5 km/h by Bottas in a Williams-Mercedes in Mexico 2016.
The other five are Valentino Rossi (Honda 33, Yahama 56), Max Biaggi (Yahama 8, Honda 5), Casey Stoner (Ducati 23, Honda 15), Andrea Dovizioso (Honda 1, Ducati 8) and Maverick Viñales (Suzuki 1, Yahama 3).

Following Lorenzo's signing, Petrucci has signed a one-year deal with the factory Ducati team.

Three more rides have confirmed in the past week for next year. Iannone moves to Aprilia from Suzuki. Joan Mir, currently sixth in Moto2, takes over Iannone's ride at Suzuki. Jack Miller stays at Pramac for a second season, but will get to ride the new GP19 Ducati.
In other news, Pedrosa announced during the week that he's retiring from MotoGP at the end of the season. Equal eighth all-time with 31 500cc/MotoGP wins (most wins by a rider not to win a 500cc/MotoGP championship) and equal seventh all-time with 54 Grand Prix wins (inc. 8 125cc and 15 250cc wins). Also holds the record as the only rider to win a Grand Prix in 16 consecutive seasons (2002-17).
MAQ leads by 77 points with 4 races to go, which means he only needs to finish ahead of DOV at the next race to wrap up another MotoGP title.
