Out - the old F1 logo
    :))

That old F1 logo was pretty iconic, has been around for many years, making its debut back in Brazil 1994, the same race that Heinz-Harald Frentzen (1997 San Marino, 1999 French and 1999 Italian GP winner), Jos "The Boss" Verstappen, Olivier Panis (1996 Monaco GP winner), Olivier Beretta, the late Roland Ratzenberger (he didn't qualify), Simtek (Australian David Brabham qualified for the race) and Pacific all made their F1 debuts in.

During the off season, there was an interesting development regarding the new F1 logo and a possible copyright issue with 3M and a particular brand of their women's tights.

Top 10 after P2 in Melbourne
HAM, VER, BOT, RAI, VET, GRO, RIC, ALO, MAG, VAN.

RIC was faster than VER after S1 on a quicker lap, but the red flag came out (due to debris on the main straight).

Might be the last chance of dry weather running with a 80% chance of rain (up to 10-20mm) tomorrow and a 70% chance of rain (up to 5mm) predicted for Sunday.

RIC has now received a 3-place grid penalty for driving too fast back to the pits after that red flag came out.

Top 10 after Q3 in Melbourne
HAM, RAI, VET, VER, MAG, GRO, HUL, RIC*, SAI, BOT.

BOT crashed in Q3. If he needs to replace the gearbox, then he will start from 15th (at best), with ALO starting 10th.

If the race is dry at the start, VER and RIC will start the race on the Supersofts, the rest of the top 10 on the Ultrasofts (based on the tyre they set their quickest time in Q2).

That VSC (caused by the Haas-Ferrari of GRO) ended up working out well for VET. Another 4th place finish for an Aussie in a Red Bull-Renault at the AUS GP (Webber 2012, Ricciardo 2016 & 2018).

Worked out well for VET and ALO.

Vettel wins the first two races of the season (AUS, BAH). The last driver to win the first two races but not go on to win the championship was Alain Prost (Renault) back in 1982. He won in both SA and BRA but only ended up finishing fourth overall (in a season where 11 drivers won).

DRIVERS WHO WON FIRST 2 RACES AFTER 1982
'91 Senna (McLaren) - USA, BRA, SMA, MON
'92 Mansell (Williams) - SA, MEX, BRA, SPA, SMA
'94 Schumacher (Benetton) - BRA, PAC, SMA, MON
'96 Hill (Williams) - AUS, BRA, ARG
'98 Hakkinen (McLaren) - AUS, BRA
'00 Schumacher (Ferrari) - AUS, BRA, SMA
'01 Schumacher (Ferrari) - AUS, MAL
'02 Schumacher (Ferrari) - AUS, MAL, BRA, SMA, SPA, AUT
'04 Schumacher (Ferrari) - AUS, MAL, BAH, SMA, SPA
'09 Button (Brawn) - AUS, MAL
'11 Vettel (Red Bull) - AUS, MAL
'16 Rosberg (Mercedes) - AUS, BAH, CHN, RUS)

As @Tivers can probably attest to, his win last year at Baku, Azerbaijan was one of the most exciting GPs to have watched also. After the last GP at Bahrain and the blown turbo in P3, it's a fantastic result for Dan. Now tied for 39th all-time with six career wins with Tony Brooks, John Surtees ('64 champion), Jochen Rindt ('70 champion), Jacques Laffite, Gilles Villeneuve, Riccardo Patrese and Ralf Schumacher.

Verstappen better pull his head in before he kills someone. an absolute menace on the track when driving offensive or defensive. His old man always being front and centre in the pits is starting to piss me right off. Its like he owns red bull and everyone is shit scared of him

Superb pole position for RIC. Hopefully this year, the team won't forget to bring out his tyres when they call him into the pits, when he's leading the race (2016). [-(

To put into context how good a career this bloke has had in IndyCars, he won the 2014 IndyCar championship (with Team Penske), has now won 34 races (which ranks him equal 8th all-time), has been on pole position 51 times (which has him equal 3rd all-time) and after today's win, is back leading the championship.

Ditto that for last night's race, so much so, that they waved the chequered flag one lap early. Under F1 rules, because the race was ended prematurely, the official race results go back to a lap earlier, lap 68/70. Didn't change any of the top 10 positions. The gaffe did cost Ricciardo the fastest lap (which he set on the lap after the chequered flag was waved, the 70th lap).
