Cometh The Big Races - Cometh The Hoop.

West Australian Racing
WA Guineas Quinella - W. Pike & P. Harvey.
Railway Stakes Quinella - Pike & D. Lane.
Winterbottom Quinella - D. Oliver & Pike.

Not too many better jockeys to grace the Ascot turf than those four.

Correct me if I'm wrong but is that Olly's first Group 1 on home soil?

Never mind silly me. Sniper’s Bullet in the 2009 Kingston Town.

Today's ride by Oliver is what you could call - timing your run to perfection. Good to see a solid pace set up in the Railway Stakes and the Winterbottom.
Need more Wrinklys and Belters clapping on the speed!

Ollie out Willied Willy on face value.
Damien was never going to go before Willy did and used him to create a path from before the turn until straightening after which he just came to his outside and bloused him with momentum
Pike dropped his head in disappointment and self criticism of his relative impatience after crossing the line I think....he would have been filthy that he had gone too early and his mares run ended before the line enabling her to get run over. Harsh criticism of himself I would suggest....but that is why he is a great rider.

The following race aboard Truly Belong...talk about all dressed up but nowhere to go.
That's the tightest have seen a horse kept pocketed in a while.
Looked to be bolting but the other hoops said no not this time Pikey!

Had all but forgotten D.Oliver winning on Snipers Bullet in the K.T.
Would have gone Nash Rawiller who won the Railway Stakes on him.

Two weeks previously the Sniper ran a good 5th in the Emirates behind All American ( David Hayes ).
All American was a bit rough and exploded with a turn of foot to behold. Ran favourite in the Railway and never went a yard. Two very contrasting runs they were.

Nash was suspended and Ollie picked up the ride in the K.T.
