Can You Believe This?!

Have put this on WA Racing to keep us on guard.

Queensland racing has had its share of problems recently - Ipsiwch and Eagle Farm tracks, the Currie fiasco and just recently for the stand alone Toowomba Saturday race day the judge placed the wrong numbers in the frame and error not realised until well and truly after correct weight.

Now to add the next debacle to Queensland Racing. Incorrect numbers go up again!

The winner of the final race last Saturday at Toowoomba carried the wrong saddlecloth number!! Goodness gracious me.
The horse went around as number five instead of number four and an unplaced horse wore saddlecloth four instead of five.

I'm no academic, no wise guy, but if a steward or somebody in officialdom can't spot a mistake like that before race time it's about as poor as it gets.

All the gadgetry and sophistication and yet still gets past them. Too many people these days looking down at phones and computers and not looking up enough to notice things with their eyes.

Not only confined to Queensland Riders. On a much smaller scale by far but have a look at the last from Ascot last Saturday see if you notice a ballsup

You can imagine the commentator being a little puzzled and miffed with the colours/numbers during the race, as he said "can't believe it's happened".

He went from an inkling to what had occurred to realising. So many things had to be missed for it to be overlooked....a judge that can't get numbers correct is one thing - for two horse's to have a mix up of saddlecloth that's inexcusable.

Not sure of that one Spinking and did have a ( losing ) bet on the last at Ascot, got sucked into the favourites even though knew they were false ones!

Also show's the attendance they get at racetracks these day's - no bugger is there - an observant punter would've noticed and told officialdom, but when there's 27 people on course, no surprise nobody realised.

Which takes course to a different path - when will race clubs understand - move into 2020 and let the punter's in for free.

Many city size fields of 6,7 and 8 - you should be paying the punter to attend!

Agree 100/ Riders that just takes amateur to a new level for a professional organization. The one I am talking about hales into nothing compared to what happened up there. But look at the photo finish of the last ascot and the number 9 horse see if you pick up the mistake?

There is no one on course because like many on here, they all stay at home betting with corporates or whoever, they don't support the local club or product which results in a self fulfilling prophecy of no atmosphere, no input and a depressed local industry. If people really like their racing, then get off your couches and head trackside .....if you don't want to, then that's fine but don't keep complaining about a lack of attendance and atmosphere and a downturn in turnover and participation. As hard as it can be sometimes, if the industry is to survive, we have to get bums on seats. Otherwise, punt on virtual casino's on your mobile phones or actually get on course...who knows, you might actually enjoy it.

Belmont season is free for the entire season according to an email I received. A good start.

The mistake last Sat with 23Red wearing his pre race ear muffs throughout the race is an interesting one. If he won could he have been disqualified?

Picking up what your laying down JJ. But in saying that the club ie Perth Racing don't make the choice a easy one I don't know what admission on a normal Saturday is maybe $10 . They should let people in for free as has been said on here a number of times, not only would they get more there they would also do away with having to pay gate staff. Then once your in $10 for a corona stubbie by the time you have had 5 you have brought a carton of them. I know you have to pay for the show your watching but if they could be a little mope flexible on pricing for food and beverage I am sure they would get more there

Yes did notice Belmont Park free entry next Saturday and that's for the whole season ? Kudos to them - that's a terrific idea. Does not de-value from the product one iota.

In regards to the horse carrying wrong gear - if won - no disqualification - 100% sure result would stand. But the officials who look into these things and gets by them - they should be disqualified!

Just some of the documented cases in the previous six months around Australia - all codes - Victoria and SA - greyhounds wearing incorrect rugs and jumping from the wrong box number. WA trots winner of standing start race incorrectly handicapped - that's the same as "you should be carrying 56kgs but here's 53kgs".

False start - no race - at Ascot. Judges all around Australia - pacing - racing - putting up incorrect numbers. Saddlecloth numbers - wrong. Race meetings called off because sprinklers left on.

Now for the good news - was told recently - "it's a professional game now".
    Oh yes very professional.
