He'll train them from Flemington, sharing the yards of Malua Racing.
    Applying for his trainers license...

What's been forgotten is that he has trained a horse in Victoria previously.

There's one other interesting training effort of Denis Pagan...he had another very handy horse...his blood lines goes back as far as the very first Melbourne Cup winner - Archer.

Archer only one of five horses to win the Melbourne Cup at least twice.

Ok here goes...the other four...Rain Lover, Think Big, Makybe Diva and blowed if I know off the top of the head...should do..just recent wasn't it...or not..can't think of it now..

Have read Rising Fast unlucky not to win two - lost by a short margin - had over 60kg ? Winner Toparoa about 45kg ?

One thing Even Stevens will have for an eternity stg, he's the only horse ever to complete the Werribee Cup and Melbourne Cup double. That's now his for keeps.

Surprisingly Makybe Diva ran about 3rd or 4th in a Werribee Cup too.

Rising Fast what a horse, won the grand slam Caulfield, Cox. Melb Cup 1954.... Next year 1955 Caulfield Cup. and just beaten in Melb.Cup..Think no horse since has done grand slam, same year.

Vintage Crop should've won two...what a strange old ride and certainty beaten he was. There's been a few that quite easily could've won two.

He finished up losing all form and breaking down in a hurdle race, having to be put down.
Goodness gracious. When is enough - enough.

Thought probably the most courageous  melb, cup. horse in my time was Doriemus who had to deal with being a  bad bleeder as well being pony size  he let them know he was around in 2caulfields & 3melb. cups.....

For sure stg, died in the wool stayer, with a turn of foot, recall backing him in Brisbane when first arrived, from memory certainty beaten. It happens.
