Gareth - you have been a breath of fresh energetic air to WA racing (all codes)

West Australian Racing
You and your enthusiasm will be missed. Onwards and upwards for you. You have made an impact, been funny, crazy, informed, logical, illogical but always great fun. Thank you for your time here in the West. And you pronounced Pinjarra correctly after awhile. You will be missed....a keen listener.

Yeah, I am on the same page...well put. Haven't always agreed, far from it, but cannot question the energy and commitment .....won't forget the night you declared Riley (Clarenden Hustler) on course as each way all day....from Gate 12.....and I went, bugger it, there goes the price. Fortunately, after you spruiked him, he drifted and everyone ended up smiling after a dream inside run. Happy days to you dealing with those bloody parochial "Mexicans". Your mission is to get the Hunter Cup back to a stand start handicap!!!!

Thanks for all your hard work, Gareth. The work you did for WA racing will be forever appreciated. All the best in your new venture

I assume RSN made Gareth an offer too good to refuse.
Well deserved in my opinion. I regularly listen to Sports Daily on my way to work.
Lots of good stuff on the show and lots of winners given out by the guests and the regular tipsters.
I am hoping the next man in will be as good as Gareth and has as much energy.
I will be tuning in to RSN to check on your progress. Good Luck. =D>

I dont see that as a bad thing. Dont want people over staying their time and going stale. If they want to achieve bigger things through this avenue they have to give it their absolute best so you could argue we actually get the best of them.

Need to keep it up and make sure the ones given the opportunity are the ones hungry to go further.

He has surprised me. Easy to listen to and obviously loves racing and sport. He would only improve with time. They would be too scared to give the gig to a young kid.
Who makes the decision on the replacement.

Surely he would see the advantage of promoting a young, local kid. There may be better qualified people for the job but put him in with an expert and he will only grow.

Yes Damien answering your question from the racing radio thread. That was my response from last July when it was rubber stamped.

Tim Walker has been "filling in" since Gareth left. Produced the show for a year or more when Gareth was there.
    Young guy who seems keen.

Digby who used to co-host on Mondays was the deputy sports editor at the West Australian who resigned from there a couple of weeks ago (presumably to take this gig).
