$13 Unibro? drawn 1 with Jade on top? I seriously doubt they bet that price....

Guess So, with William Pike on in a maiden with 8 runners... they bet $21?

Apparently. Well thats what the opening prices were compared to now.

I often wonder WHO the prices are actually set for? And who knows what the limits are?

Im told these prices go up before TAB's open... so just accounts betting.
Very likely little laid at these top fluctuations... best ignored.

    Cockney Crew now mostly $1.75.
I believe Tom Waterhouse's tipping service has tipped it... hence the avalanche of money.

Not best ignored certain punters are getting into tabs in the morning who have an arrangment with the Tab agent to let them in early.
They are getting on for 2-3k and sometimes more when doing multis.
and they seem to know what the overs are as price is gone within 30 secs of the markets going up.

So true. The TAB should advertise what TAB's are open to allow everyone the same service provided to a few..

This is what I was eluding to. How do the certain punters know what to back straight away. It's almost as if they are requesting a certain price about something and then magically it appears. Then they get on quick smart and whoosh it's "gone", back into the right price. It seems.

I would love be to see the last 6 months of data of the first 10 mins betting time. Not what was backed, don't care about that. It would be interesting to see whether there are certain accounts active but the main thing would be where the bets are coming from. I would bet my life there are at least 1 or 2 establishments that continually pop up.

    Bet local they say.

In fact most of them have shortened further. I wonder if the market percentage has changed haha!

Do some punters get the prices before they get put into the system. One can only assume.

Did it ever occur that certain punters (or owners!) want to back one or two horses specifically straight away?
imagine that thought process multiplied by a hundred other blokes out there on a thursday morning and you can easily see how and why so many horses firm dramatically...

will be interesting to see the results of your original thread posted as you always hear of horses in previews and on the radio "being backed in from such and such" or "I can't believe they bet X amount about this or that"

Isn't the WA TAB government owned? Nobody would rort a government owned enterprise. The mere suggestion that certain people are exploiting prices that are wildly inaccurate in a systematic way couldn't be right.

you would hope not. I sort of get the feeling this is why that tab fixed odds chief got in trouble over in NSW

....and the last I read, refusing to co-operate with stewards inquiry, and was still still warned off, but that was back in July, not sure how far further advanced has gone since then.

    An "inside job".

Yes Sally Snow @hash and think continuing to use her right to common law privilege against self incrimination and won't be providing any evidence or information to the stewards.
Only trouble is you are then warned off indefinitely, and until appear that will be the case.

Shouldn't be flippant on these things, but there'd be no point in me being on any inquiry, I'd let her off...she's gorgeous!

Red Can Man and Bunker Buster the two winners of this lot, with Bunker Buster being the recipient of some luck with the scratching of the then favorite.

I think it's going to take some time getting over Adrian Makfi beats. What could have been..!

Had plenty of excuses, the horse could of and should of almost been scratched! First to load and by the time the gates opened he’d been in there too long which caused him to miss the kick which in turn forced him to do too much extra work early.... didn’t help the jockey on the winner was riding like he was in a Melbourne cup!
