So many OS meetings?

East Coast Racing
I had a look at all the racing fields today and noticed there were 7 Australian meetings today.

Then I see there is 16 overseas meetings!?

So then I look at the trots. There are 3 Aussie meetings and 7 overseas trots meetings.

With the dogs there are 8 Australian and 5 international.

What interest is there in backwater international meetings? It must be somewhat profitable or supported if they are being offered.
:-?

Last few years notice south africian racing[------ with how there first-four pools continue to grow like everyrace  is 30k plus. there.form guide tells what day the horse changed trainers what date it was gelded--sometimes think aussie racing treats the punters as backward----they use the whole of the track 1600m straight races and what  a apprentice has to go through,to complete there apprenticeships if they come out the otherside they can ride.

The best racecourse in western Australia  Esperance-----how can you bet there boxing day they had schedule one eight horse field -other six races had less. You will see more of the o/seas product. dare say Kalgoorlie as a venue will be gone 2023.

They say you can't squeeze blood out of a turnip, well Tabcorp do their best to squeeze every cent out of the punter they can.

Fixed odds are terrific on these races/trots/dogs too - if you can manage a final market around 140% you've done extremely well.

Tote - the pools are that pathetic - don't put more than $5 on a roughie or you'll nearly bring it into favourite. Exacta and quinella pools of under $100...South Africa excepted with comingling.

I'm no mathematician but why oh why would you ever contemplate betting into fixed odds with such a high %. You can't possibly win overall. The maths won't allow it - and don't care how good your information is! You'll get away with it once or twice but overall fixed odds will get you big time when betting into ridiculous high % markets.

And if you want to bet $1.50 Essendon v $1.80 Geelong keep betting tote.

There's been lots of two horse races lately overseas especially - go back through them - checkout the final tote provisional dividends and you'll see how much the above is 100% correct.

Been saying it for years - Tabcorp has three major marketing strategies.
    1. Bet on more and more meetings around the globe. ( As Bomber just shown ).
    2. Increase takeout rates - they've only ever crept up. Never down.
    3. Read one and two again.

In saying that quite enjoy the overseas racing! Japan is a gem. Dowwwwwwn the strectchhhhhhhhh they come.

Beware of comingling too - other countries are worse. Chile racing ( who we do bet on ) has a takeout on trifecta's of something like 40% that's nearly as bad as an early BetEasy market.

So when we start comingling with places like Chile ( it will happen ) 40% in the $ will be kept on trifecta's.
But Tabcorp will drum it into you that's fine - and it's all about the stability of dividends, pullllllllease.

Doesn't matter to me if they keep 90% of the pool, don't bet on that type of rubbish, but sometimes you need to go into bat for the punter.

One of the dodgiest places in the world Chile - most results are given to government officials long before start time!

Bomber it's worth reading about betting from all parts of the world - various and wild takeout rates - corruption and meddling.

Latest findings in the USA - when drop takeout rates - the punters will bet up and bet up big, therefor negating and making up for the less profit the Race jurisdiction would have been receiving.

Done properly it's commonly known as a win/win situation, now can't have that can we.

I think I will riders, have a read of those other jurisdictions.

Don't get me wrong, Hong Kong and the major Japanese/English days are worthwhile given the potential for these runners to head down under. The rest are animals with numbers on them...but I guess that's all you need

Enjoy all the different tracks too - talking of which a guy in Australia wrote a book several years ago on his visits to every racetrack in Australia!

Took him a year or two I think, and gees it was good, read it in the city news agency every day haha, terrible people who do that, and should've bought it, was bloody good - his adventures on every track in Australia - will try to locate that and this time - buy.

With the punting side of all these places around the globe - it's hard to beat that argument - I'd rather be on the 8/1 winner of the South African maiden at Flamingo Park than the 5/1 winner of the Melbourne Cup.

    That's fair enough too.

You know what I'd do now - if younger - and wanted to punt hard - I'd study one place in the world - and one place only - you can work out the reasons - Hong Kong.

Its all clean, actually it's crooked as buggery ( if you ask me ) but like it.

Reckon if head down and study - the trots too, but only in one state - WA.

Hong Kong and WA trotting - poles apart - but I'd select between those two to specialise in.

UK, Japan, Singapore, Hong Kong, USA are all that are required. Get rid of the rest.

Most may disagree with retaining USA  and though I don't bet on their races (unless I am in America on track) it is very handy for those that punt at breakfast time.

stg love those runners at Funabushi and Tokyo City on the dirt when their not having a fair dinkum go - have a gander at the ones out the back - some of them are 500/1 and no hope being scrubbed up, but there's often one or two bringing up the rear and where the hoop is as quiet as the proverbial church mouse.

A 200/1 fixed odds winner in Singapore yesterday, never seen an era for so many long priced winners between 100/1 and 200/1...although with Tabcorp betting on 7,238 races a week they do have to roll in from time to time.

Any professional punter who makes a profit betting on Singapore racing - take a bow. The strangest things can occur on the tote over there. The "cave ins" on the tote - incredulous.

Wouldn't be the sort of place to go and complain either.

With China's destruction of Honkers wouldn't mind betting a few government officials back a few winners there too.

Yeah I saw it too. The thing won by 4 lengths and had what I would call very average form. Won like Winx, must like the track.
