he might not know... get on a plane... and you're pretty much going to get it from anyone who has got it on that plane, people who have been overseas.

I hope they can do a test and get it back quick smart, clearing us and we can carry on... but that might be wishful thinking.

He has not tested positive. A passenger on his flight from Sydney to Melbourne has and Zahra is now waiting for his results which are expected tomorrow.

WA, Victorian and NSW racing now on hold until the results are through

    Official RWWA:

acing and Wagering Western Australia (RWWA) advises that all thoroughbred race meetings have been suspended in Western Australia today and tomorrow, with immediate effect, whilst a Victorian licensed participant undergoes testing for COVID-19.

The eastern states participant has this afternoon been advised by health authorities that they were on the same flight as a confirmed case of COVID-19 when they travelled on 12 March 2020. The participant is not currently displaying any symptoms of COVID-19.

Acting upon medical advice and as a precautionary measure, RWWA has decided to suspend the State’s thoroughbred racing while we investigate the implications for any Western Australian industry personnel who have come into direct contact with the impacted eastern states participant.

Those people who have had close contact with the licensed participant are being contacted throughout this afternoon.

Victoria Racing and Racing New South Wales have also suspended racing as a precautionary measure.

Quick clarification and get back to work.

Booked my car in for a service Monday.
Should that be called off too ?

racing is current proving to the govt how careful and serious they are being about keeping to all the rules. I guess calling off until testing occurs is part of what is allowing them to keep going when all other sports are kaput.

If all our jocks were tested for this thing constantly through the last week, including the hoop in question, then there was no need to abandon today's racing. Due diligence. Just sayin...

    To be more specific.

The hoop in question has been back in the state for how long? Everyone in the country knows where he's been. Why has he not been proactively tested? And if he has, again, why did we abandon?

I think the thing is that nobody knew there was someone on the plane who showed no symptoms but subsequently tested positive and everybody who came in close contact with that person could now be a carrier

Proactive testing????? hahahaha Very foreign concept for our industry. The hoop, should have been in self isolation just in case...AND here we all are. 1 person, stops an industry of 15,000 staff and then they will ask for financial support due to the actions of 1 person.. IF they are positive

At times it is so hard to work out how we stay functioning as an industry.

PS...i am glad i dont know who it is

the interaction was nearly 2 weeks ago, no one including the government was calling for self isolation from interstate travel, I think

No one is disputing that. But in order to keep racing we should be on the front foot. We obviously weren't.

    To clarify.

Why hasn't every jockey been tested in the last 7 days?

Hoop in question has ridden at 4 meetings since returning. That would rule out most.
