Seem's WA's budding star has more problems than we are told. Another race weekend another scratching. And now out of feature races. Maybe that offer should have been accepted?

Is that why the stewards just accept the continued scratchings reasons being due to future nomination and don't visit the stables to conduct a vet exam?

Would buy that, here's the but she's scratched for the last 3 weeks. What's the big secret. We are all supportive of the filly.

    Nothing that hasn’t been said.
    Had abscess.
Has been slow to recover fully from it.
Has had the shits with that (all the extra attention etc) in the interim so now going to the paddock.

It's nothing to do with the filly @Tivers, more to do with the way Dmac has gone about it.

    Gone about what ?
    Not being clairvoyant ?
  • FlandersFlanders    1,197 posts
I see what u did there, nice.
No not that... first scratching was a 24 hour abscess, bar shoe on. But that wasn't the reason for the scratching... it was a future nomination.
2nd scratching... future nomination. In your words "95% right last week, 99% right this week". So what was it?
3rd scratching... ? In your words "Horse has trained off"
None of this had done other connections any good- i have no doubt her presence and the kind of talk from Dmac like on the Wednesday b4 one of the races "she's head and shoulders above them" decimated the noms and/or final field sizes, only for your horse to scratch. Kills turnover as well.
It's your option to nom and scratch as much as you like of course but in my opinion if there was some open and transparent communication to the media, it is a much better look than what looks like playing games with people. Not how I'd go about it but i guess that doesn't mean I'm right, just my two bobs.
Possibly a good outcome for you guys in the end- she can go for a good break and furnish even more, I'm sure you've got much bigger fish to fry, best of luck.

The conflict of interest is huge. Many trainers have complained about it, for many years

no one's business but the owners and trainer
sounds like the horses interest is primary and not being hungry for wins
should be more of it, super horse being managed and looked after.

Yes that's right. She's a valuable horse with a future. You'd kill to be in the position. Well kill is a little over the top haha

Didn't know the "conflict of interest" scenario. Seems unusual. I'm sure trainers can't moonlight as stewards, unless that's a terrible comparison. Probably getting off track here

People complaining about a scratching of a horse whos feet are not 100%.... fair dinkum. When horse welfare should be first and foremost, seems like some would run their horses with broken legs for the sake of a few bucks.....

There would not be one person who doesn’t think the horses welfare should be first and foremost, what a stupid comment people would run any horse with broken legs for the sake of a few bucks

If you go back to the trainers interview on the 21/10/20 when he read bar plates were added to Clairvoyance through Racing Australia It  was a clerical error she’d had the foot abscess ten days prior it was just 24hr thing and the next day it was gone

Come the Belgravia 24/10/20 scratched morning of race due to Future Nomination (no mention of foot issues)

Then the Crown Plate 31/10/20, 12 three year olds were nominated 7 horses scratched not wanting to face up to Clairvoyance with public statements this horse had no issues, Morning of the race, horse scratched due to Future nomination Leaving 4 runners

Then nominations Tuesday came out for the Crossman Memorial Plate 11 nominated, Clairvoyance accepts, 7 starters, she scratches Thursday with people on here saying she’s not 100%

You would of thought such a high profile horse and being co trained by a Racing Official more transparcy would of been made with view of betting for the Winterbottom

In saying that wishing the best for the horse

I wish i could "like" this post more than once!
Agree 100% with all of that.
Nobody anywhere here said the horse should have run, nor wished her any harm. The points being made were relating to the trainer and his approach.
    Best first post ever.

Horse welfare should be 100% first and foremost. Re the horse involved it seem's the trainer has been spoon feeding bs to everyone. If they knew the horse wasn't right why the frequent nomination's and boastful comments. Then scratching with "future nomination" as the reason

@Tivers, speak to the trainer, moving fwd, make sure he clears up any future scratching with the judges and juries here on PTT =))

Whats it got to do with anyone  on here or anywhere apart from the trainer and owners as to how many times it has been nominated and scratched. Last i looked there is no rule against it. Unless a late scratching for which you pay a fee . Stand to be corrected but she was only once scratched on race morning i think.
  • EndlessroadsEndlessroads    4 posts

This horse has been nominated 3 weeks in a row  whilst they have possibly had a concern for her fitness yet scratched for Future nomination . It is a racing rule to report any fitness issues, She has been accepted 3 weeks in a row with a possible fitness issue

    Why is it anyone’s business

Perhaps if the owners of 3 year olds who have payed months of training fees were privy to this possible information they  may well of decided to take the chance and start their horses the past few weeks against Clairvoyance who may not of been at peak fitness

It is Darrens wife’s job to report fitness issues on other trainers horses

She was an Early favourite for the Winterbottom

DMac has broad shoulders he doesn’t mind sending out voice recordings of judging, and being the jury on jockeys rides in the past and will quite often put them back on

    Fair play here,

Not the trainers fault these people have no intestinal fortitude. Nominate, run, take a risk, stop sleeping with the light on.

hang on para, its the trainers who have the say, not the owners. the horse in question has a squillion owners, would each one be asked for an opinion?

I heard Dmacs interview after the first scratching where he said the abscess popped immediately and the horse was 99% right but they weren’t prepared to risk running. (I stand corrected on exact paraphrasing)
We aren’t all lucky enough to have a horse good as this, but how many horses run around that are 99% or less ? Plenty I would suggest.
Could you imagine if all horses at 99% fit or less are scratched. Bye bye industry.
    :-h

Yeah but why would you risk a horse of that nature that isn’t right? I’d rather risk a slow midweek horse at less than 90% instead of a potential group one star like clairvoyance

My comments on here only relate to how Dmac went about things to do with her, nothing at all to do with the horse. Many of you who are defending the filly must have read what you wanted to and skipped the real stuff.
In my opinion he did himself no good from an image perspective, nor the horse's reputation for soundness (if she was ever on the market for example). Not that I think she's got issues but it wasn't the best few weeks you must admit and it has to at least raise eyebrows.

For mine, Dmac came across like he thinks he's above the rest of his peers in the sport here. Maybe he does have that opinion of himself anyway and some of you might like that but many don't.
