I've watched it Slip, not having any idea as to how having his foot out creates an advantage but was one of the protests, he did run off 3 to 4 horses but I feel they were never going to catch him

Allowing the horse's hind leg to hit his foot is an illegal action known as hocking. It is against the rules of racing and probably should have been dealt with accordingly.

Stewards have announced that they will conduct a further inquiry into the race but it is hard to see them overturning their initial dismissal of the protest against excessive whip use and hocking.

Made absolutely no attempt to correct his horse running up the track therefore should lose the race.
1 cart fair enough but not 3 carts up the track, almost impossible to get past.

Piston never going to lose-- his dad use to drive like that  Bulldog  Nicholson--- blatant no respect of the rules in the run up the straight. 37,500 was to winner---- so fine him 17,500.
Leading Driver in W.A. don't know how many times  he won big races in late 90s he won races with one foot out the rest especially driving fillies and mares in big races and it wasn't for hocking.

Tasmania  in the news ----whips or no whips driver  Gavin Kelly fined 1k. for not carrying a whip in dec. now with this latest uproar .The legal challenge may cost him 20k. more  fighting the fact whereby his forced to carry a whip.

Kelly being driving for two years his never used a whip while racing a horse he trained himself..

The HRA. along with the participants digging a united hole . Especially when HRA  said would ban all whips from Sept.1 2017.
