Big Caroline to target 1000 Guineas

Perth Turf Talk | Metropolitan Racing | Tue 26 August, 2014

Simon Foster thinks Big Caroline's return to the winners circle on the weekend could be enough to prompt owners to head East.

Already nominated for Spring riches, including the Group 1 1000 Guineas, Big Caroline would be more suited by the scheduling of 3yo races according to her trainer.

"She's still got to win a couple to prove she's at that top level".

No doubting her raw ability, Big Caroline ran 5th in Perth's 2yo feature and even started favourite the following race before finishing in the same position.

The Blackfriars mare has netted just short of $90,000 and has two wins in her 8-start career.

"The owners get back tonight, we'll sit down and have a chat. There's several options on the table."

Rated 73 in WA, I don't think it is that much easier to win races here if you win a decent race early on like Prentice did. It was always going to be hard for him winning the Sires Produce as a 2yo, then come back and win a Saturday race as a 3yo, then cope a ...

There's nothing enjoyable about watching your horse get beaten 15.75 lengths.
