Does The Doc do it again?

Chris Nelson | Metropolitan Racing | Sun 12 April, 2020

We turn into the last day of a Raceday in a familiar position. thedoc the favourite.

The winner of the last Raceday competition many moons ago, The 'Doc', an actual Doctor, seems to be relaxed despite the COVID crisis, all proven through a commanding lead.

He's an unassuming fellow. Short in stature, quick in wit, however deadly on the tip.

He's toughed out three days and looked closer to victory in each and every one.

Now he turns to Bunbury. A track that's been good to him with his own winners.

He's not alone. Therea are some familiar faces, and champions, in the form of choc, jamtin, MuzzaD and Seagull.

There's only one day to go. 9 races at Bunbury's Easter Monday. It's been a marathon, a true 4800m affair, however the Doc looks to have the cure yet again.

Good luck tipsters.

I think youre right Diva, I think thats how it actually works. Which makes an interesting analogy, how many false starts would you get in a running race if the starter went ready, set, and then delayed the gun by half a second from normal?

There must have been some mechanical noise that usually associates with the gates opening as all the horses and riders jumped in unison but incredibly the gates were delayed in opening. The race was compromised badly. It is unfair to punters that the race...

You will often see the assistant starter behind the gates raise his hand to me this indicates all horses are in and ready to jump . Sometimes when watching the eastern states races you will here the starter say ready riders  if there are no objections suc...

my question above was serious by the way... what does the "all clear" indicate?is that like the "set" in a running race? they tend to delay sometimes when waiting for runners to set before the gun...

Sorry I was sarcastically asking savethegame what he thought would be required in order for horses to be greatly affected. No idea on what the normal process is, but it seems to work perfectly 99% of the time. Cant say Ive ever seen them all jump into the gates...

so the gates are supposed to open when the starter calls all clear? or after he calls all clear? if after, then how long after are the gates supposed to open?

I didnt say they opened at intervals. If you put what you saw into the context of what you didnt notice at the time and from what people who were there are saying, it makes perfect sense. Rodent has shown the difference in time between them getting ready and th...
