Final 4 set for Raceday semi finals

After 220 competitors competed in the regular season, it now comes down to just 4. Each has crafted their own road to this position and three will walk away with prizes, thanks to PUNTA.

Gilgamesh was the first qualifier from yesterday with the daring tip of Generous Choice, a selection which sealed his fate. Super Dog was the more consistent tipster and had he converted more 2nds and 3rd to winning selections it would have been a closer affair.

BigMac took 4 races to trouble the scorer and when he did it was with a placing worth 1.70, this gave smiddy197 a chance to grind his way to the lead. His two winners to BigMac's one was the only difference on the day.

The fairytale of RIO continued as he not only won his 5th consecutive match in the Raceday finals, however also took down his third straight top 5 opposition. He had to work for it after sonny landed Rock Magic, however sonny only managed to score in two of 8 races handing him the contest.

squid69 had his fair share of breaks to reach this point of the competition after finishing 52nd overall. He was no match to the clinical Jordan who found three winners and three placegetters on the day.

So where does that leave us?

After all entrants in the top 16 went straight through to the qualifying finals, missing the first two weeks, only two have capitalised in Gilgamesh and Jordan. Gilgamesh the only featuring from the top 10, ranked 10th.

smiddy129 ranked 29th benefited from the first week off finishing in the top 32 and has as good a chance as any to be there for the big dance.

Finally, RIO, who qualified only through the withdrawal of a troublesome forum user. RIO finished 82nd overall with only two wins in regular season. The RIO in finals has been a different sort of player.

SEMI FINAL 1: Gilgamesh vs RIO

Gilgamesh took a while to hit his straps in regular season, however finished with 6 wins and 12 placings to finish 13th overall. He would have lost to Super Dog had it not been for his outside selection. This will give RIO hope of yet another upset and after sticking with form runners this week he scored in 6 of 8 races. RIO did have 19 placings against his 2 wins in regular season so he was unlucky for the majority. It may be an unusual selection that decides this contest, who's selection is the question.

SEMI FINAL 2: Jordan vs smiddy197

Jordan featured at the top of the ladder very early in the season and paid the price by competing mainly against the best in the league. He also beat a field of the highest ranked 16 during regular season and finished second to willy_jones twice. smiddy found 4 wins but a healthy 12 placings to sit midfield and battled the middle-tier for most of his 33 starts. Class suggests Jordan will proceed.
