First Among Equals records his fourth Stakes Victory

Perth Turf Talk | Metropolitan Racing | Mon 8 May, 2017

Exceed And Excel’s five-year-old son First Among Equals added a fourth Stakes win to his record when claiming the Listed Northam Stakes over 1100m at Northam on 7 May.

Jumping well from the barriers, First Among Equals settled midfield before drawing clear down the center of the straight to finish a nose ahead of race leader Madassa.

Bred by P Sweeney, First Among Equals is out of stakes-winning mare Pride Of The Class, who has produced six foals to race for five winners. Pride Of The Class is also a half-sister to stakes winners Fulmonti and Majestical.

Exceed And Excel is the sire of 130 inpidual Stakes winners with seven this year alone. His most recent success is G2 winner Mr Stunning, who joins fellow Dubai winners Championship, Morawij and Heavy Metal.
