Platinum Rocker chases Tiara news

Platinum Rocker chases Tiara

Perth Turf Talk | Metropolitan Racing | Tue 6 May, 2014

After placing on the weekend in the Listed Silk Stocking on the Gold Coast, Platinum Rocker, who has made a rare trip from Western Australia to Queensland will contest the 2014 Brisbane Winter Racing Carnival and the Group 1 Tattersall's Tiara (1400m) on June 21st.

Unlucky to finish second in the Group 1 Railway Stakes (1600m) at the conclusion of a strong 2013 spring preparation, Platinum Rocker will be aiming to return the favour offered by Robert Heathcote-trained Queenslander Buffering last season, who claimed the Group 1 Winterbottom Stakes (1200m) in his sole appearance in Perth.

Miller is confident of a successful carnival for the talented Love A Dane mare this time in.

I have told Heathcote and a few of the Queensland trainers that I am coming to get some of their money" Miller said with a chuckle.

"My mare keeps improving every campaign and she just got beat in the Railway from an awkward gate.

"It isn't cheap to get across to Brisbane, but having said that it's not as if I am bringing over a maiden horse, so I am sure she will be able to offset the costs."

While figuring as the most-likely target for the mare of out Platinum Strip during her Brisbane tenure, Miller confirmed the major Group 1 Stradbroke Handicap (1400m) may also feature under ideal circumstances.

"The plan is to set her for the Tatts Tiara, but if she does something great in the meantime I could always switch her to the Straddy" Miller added.

Amassing an impressive record of eight wins and three places from only 13 competitive starts to date, Platinum Rocker arguably feature's as Western Australia's most exciting current race horse.

Claiming five wins from six starts in her maiden year of racing, Platinum Rocker continued her typically scintillating run of form through four races over the 2013 spring; winning the Listed Birthday Stakes (1200m) first-up and finishing third in the Group 3 Northerly Stakes (1400m) on October 19th before cruising home to win the Group 3 Classic Asian Beau Stakes (1400m) prior to the Railway.
