The winner of the Magic Millions 2yo Classic and Gimcrack Stakes, Darlington Abbey, returns to the track in the 1000m Westpeed Handicap at Saturday's Belmont program.

The now 3yo Stratum mare was undefeated heading into WA's richest juvenile race, the Karrakatta Plate. She was given the gun run by Harvey and was overwhelmed late, finishing tenth at her first attempt at 1200m.

Darlington Abbey stepped out in style at the trials, accelerating late off a slow pace to run away from Rapid Riddle and Proud Prince. Trainer Simon Miller has a knack of producing his charges first up and Saturday should be no exception.

The race won't be a walk in the park however, with the speedy Petrenui set to make the pace up front. The Bletchley Park gelding scorched over 1000m a week ago to record a resounding 4 1/2 length victory in 58.05 seconds, which was comparatively very fast for the day. Detection, with blinkers on and back to the 1000m will add to the pressure up front while Fine Copper resumes off a soft trial, having run out of her skin in the Karrakatta, coming from last and finishing fifth.

Expect the market to indicate a race in two.
