Right Time's Last Race
West Australian Racing
Hi all,
I know one of the owners of Right Time. This is Right Time's last race before heading back to South Australia. The owner I know is part of a syndicate and the lease runs out which means Right Time will be sent back to South Australia and will race in South Australia with its original owner.
This horse has won be some cash for me along the way. A handy bread-and-butter horse on it's day. I hope Right Time runs well in the Listed H.G Bolton Sprint (1200m) on Saturday. It's a WA horse, was bought at the WA sales I think. Some South Australian person bought it and then leased it and as we know it's been running in WA.
Not sure how it will go in South Australia results wise but I will keep an eye on it.
Cheers,
PC.

PC, I also wish the owners well, and now it makes sense why RT has had a long prep.It was a tired horse 2 starts ago and 1st horse beaten last start with bar plates on, and now the poor thing has to cope with a slow track.Good luck RT in SA as I shall be backing you with shorter preps and good feet!
Yeah I told the owner I know this. Right Time is better in short sharp spurts. Interestingly though, the owners thing it will run a good race. Place chance or even win.
But yeah I agree, it's a been a long prep - too long for my liking. Paying $21 for the win and $5.20 for the place when I had a small bet on it on the fixed odds earlier today on Friday arvo.
Honestly, I can't see it doing well but I hope it runs a respectable race.
I also told the owner I know that Right Time seems to be ridden wrong. Personally I would like Right Time ridden in about 3rd or 4th spot but in recent times he is near the front and sometimes in front and then in the last 300m or 250m of the race, the other horses overtake him and swamp him. Don't ride Right Time so that he is a sitting duck in front.
Maybe I'm just from the Bart Cummings school in that Bart never likes his horses ridden in front because neither do I, but it takes a good horse to lead all the way.
I say ride Right Time a bit quieter - not too far back, but in about 3rd or 4th spot and then let him go with 250m to go.
Just my thoughts and I'm probably wrong. Paul Jordan and co know best.
Right Time has won a bit more that
28 Starts: 8-5-3

Prize money: $389,350
If it manages to win it will break the $400k barrier.
The rest must be Westspeed which goes to the owner NOT the leasee.
Yeah and I go by the Racing Victoria website. Fairly accurate website too.
They've been lucky enough to lease a horse which has made them some good cash and given them plenty of enjoyment. I'm not sure if Right Time or Our Ol Fella has been flogged more this campaign.
Punters got bent over last week taking the early $4 or so and then it's announced the shoes go on and you can get upwards of $7.
Absolute joke
At least Right Time tried. But it's obvious he needs a spell now. A really long rest. Hopefully he is treated better in South Australia and not run into the ground.
Did the owners offer a lease extension?
Fastmoney - Owners had a big result with no training costs ?, you obviously know nothing about leasing, the syndicates leasing the horse pay for all of the training/vet fees whilst they have the lease, once you take out owner, jockey and trainer percentages from earnings you are left with 60%, also in this case the owner kept all bonuses which were 60k, so the syndicate has recieved 60% of 330k - about $180k (still very good), take out the training fees for 3 years and I think the syndicate is left with about 110k or so..pretty sure the syndicate had about 20+ members so hardly a huge individual return for each share - but we are very happy with how our time with Jimmy has turned out and hopefully a lot of the syndicate will re-invest into the industry and go around again.
Generally the people I know in our syndiicate were there for the thrill and experience of being a part owner no matter how small the share - we have had an excellent time with Jimmy he has been a great horse for us -
Paul Jordan has done an excellent job - the horse has not been "flogged" at all, this prep went for a fair while, but if you have a look at how spaced his runs were (a few nearly 5 weeks apart) - rooboy you're last comment is a long way off the mark and incorrect, running the horse was always left to Paul and he wouldn't have run him if there was any danger of him breaking down...Paul thought the horse had earned the riight to run in a couple of big races to finish off here so he gave him the chance to do that..nothing to do with us chasing extra money..
The syndicate is referred to as the lessee not the owner.
I know one of the owners involved in the lease for Right Time and the horse is going back to it's original owner in South Australia and will race there.
I am one of the "owners" (lessors) of Right Time, we were offered to go into the half brother but as far as I know most didn't take up the option, I don't know everyone in the syndicate though as there were many so can only speak for the guys I do know, and none of them took up the offer - so no there was no straight swap to the other horse.
There was no offer for extension of lease for Right Time, we were asked if we wished to purchase the horse outright but we knocked it back, part of the syndicate made an offer which wasn't accepted by the owner hence he is going to South Australia to race for him.
Yeah Right Time ran really well in the Northam Stakes. The one that got away for sure. Right Time certainly deserves a black type (Group/Listed) win and it's a shame he couldn't win a black type race in WA, hopefully he can win a black type race in South Australia.
Cheers.
Rooboy, I have been overseas and the week he had the bar shoes put on, bar plates were for precaution more than anything as far as I know (but then I wasn't here so didn't get to talk to Paul and staff at the track which I normally would have), I backed him on player on the thursday night, only to find out about the bar shoes on the saturday, so I did my bucks well and truly.
I really hope he does well in SA as I really enjoyed the experience he gave us the last 3 years.....
